“An overall wonderful experience!”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The front desk staff are amazing! They all remembered us when we checked in. This was our 5th visit within the past 1 1/2 years. The food at Fresh Salt is always delicious and fresh. The service is amazing--they remembered our preferences from the past visits, even where we prefer to be seated. The rooms are immaculate. Get the water view room--it's definitely worth the extra cost. The entire hotel staff are warm, friendly and courteous--they cannot do enough to help. I would like to list them all by name but there would be too many wonderful people to mention. This is a great hotel for a mini-vacation. We feel like it's our home away from home!

Room Tip: We've stayed in various rooms--the best are water-view facing the water straight on.

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon, great spa treatment and fabulous dinner all at Saybrook Point Inn. Our room could not have been more beautiful and the service was very special. Even as a 24 hour get away......we feel really pampered and relaxed!

Room Tip: We asked for a water view with a balcony and fireplace. Just beautiful!

My husband and I were fortunate to stay a night at this lovely hotel during our recent trip to the eastern coast. We liked everything about the Saybrook Point Inn. The location is incredible, and we enjoyed the beautiful views from our balcony that overlooked the water. The hotel combines the charm of an inn with modern comforts, such as flat screen tvs and walk in showers. Our room was spacious and the furniture very comfy. We loved our delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant downstairs. It's a place you hate to leave once you arrive. We wish we could have stayed longer!!

I wonder if there was any opportunity that stood out to you that would make you feel like we had earned a five rating? I respect your point of view. Andy Abels

We had a very nice and large room, but the price was too high for the area and the amenities. The staff were fine, the restaurant was quite good. The room was well equiped and well furnished with a couch, fireplace, desk, and large bathroom. We found the indoor pool area, which has a pool, steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi, to be in need of renovation. It looked really old. We will likely return and hope that they do some upgrades because the hotel has the potential to be 5*.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view room.

Stayed one night with a group visiting the New England area. The rooms were exceptionally well appointed and spacious. Breakfast was very good especially the sausages!! I plan on returning to this property in the future.

Room Tip: We overlooked the marina and had a spectacular view of the sunrise from our balcony!

Continued upgrades, casual elegance, predictable quality great service and pet friendly make the Saybrook Point Inn a place we keep coming back to -- this is year 15! In addition to the room and bathroom upgrades that add comfort and sparkle, the outside grounds have not been neglected. New water feature near the gazebo and beautiful landscaping surround the main entrance signage and road front. Attentive staff but not intrusive. New van service and enhanced restaurant and spa will enhaance the experience for many. Pet friendly-- great park right across the street, and flexible dog policies along with welcome treats and bandana for the pup.

Room Tip: Courtyard-facing rooms .... have great sunrise views and on Friday and Saturday night wedding partie...

Thank you for great feedback. I'm not complaining but you rated each individual area a five but overall you gave us a four. I understand how that could be accurate but if it was not intended I wanted to make note of it. Thank you. Andy Abels

We stayed at the inn for four nights in Oct 2012 and loved it. Every member of the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. Our room was a generous size with a wood fireplace and small balcony. It overlooked the entrance to the inn (and parking lot) with a view of the water in the distance (but not too far that it detracted from our enjoyment of the view). The room had a king bed, small loveseat and cocktail table, large dresser, large desk and a round table with two chairs. So there were many places to sit in addition to the bed, which is nice for a long stay.
The bathroom was enormous, with a long counter, two sinks and separate shower. The hall was nicely decorated and definitely more attention was given than typical 'hotel common space' decor.
There were so many other nice places to hang out outside of our room...the restaurant, the pool, several decks outside including a large firepit on one of the outdoor bars, so even though it was a little chilly, we could still be comfortable outside.
The pool had great hours, it is closed for a short time everyday for aqua classes but it opens so early (5am I think?), until 10pm that we still had plenty of time to swim everyday, and there is still the option of the heated outdoor pool or the hot tub while the indoor pool is in use.
The only things missing were a breakfast option. We also thought we smelled cigarette smoke in our room every night, which the staff said was probably a fireplace in another room (but was definitely another guest smoking...cigarettes smell a lot different than wood!). Other than that, we loved the place and would love to return.
The inn was more expensive than our typical vacation stay, so it was nice that there was so much to enjoy on-site and nearby.
The area nearby is really cute, and the hotel staff were always helpful giving suggestions for things to do in the area. There are free bikes to use, and a free shuttle. The people who work there all seem to enjoy doing what they do and ensuring their customers have a great stay. I'd recommend the Inn to anyone.
