We loved our server, and the food was delicious. This restaurant was spacious and the service was superb.

This place is great for the shoppers. The restaurant is housed in the one of the buildings of the Saybrook Country Barn at the foot of Main Street in Old Saybrook, a fun shopping place for furniture, accessories and seasonal decorations. Right outside the restaurant is a very nice ladies clothing store in the same building. There are stores up and down Main Street within walking distance. Aspen has an varied menu and the restaurant is nicely appointed. Have been there for lunch many times and haven't been disappointed yet. Great salads, flatbreads, fish and chips, hamburgers, among other choices. Open for lunch and dinner.

I was pleasantly surprised with Aspen restaurant. We were seated downstairs and the decor was very chic and the space was warmly lit. Visited on a Saturday night and thought service would be rushed and to my surprise our waitress was very accomodating. I ordered the Salmon very fresh with just the right amount of seasoning. My husband had the chicken and he enjoyed every last bite. The bread melts in your mouth which is a treat for us. If you like a large selection of foods on the menu this is the restaurant. We were to full to have dessert so this is our excuse for a return visit. Must admit, bill does not choke the wallet.

Enjoyed a nice quiet meal at the bar last night for a low key 'date night'. My husband had a frisee salad (very large) and short ribs ("a small plate") which was adequate for him. I ordered the special - a flank steak with a upscale version of barbeque sauce on it, accompanied by a sweet potato tartin and a huge pile of greens (broccoli rabe & spinach?? not sure what it was but it was tasty and balanced out the meal nicely. They serve really nice french butter with good bread. Poured a giant glass of wine. Aspen has a good wine list and a bartender who does a lot of experimenting with new cocktails. If you like to try new drinks, it might be a place to check out. We ate for less than $75...including tip with just one glass of wine and no dessert.

we had a comical experience with our waitress/waiter/busser/manager. Too long to get into it. But our order couldn't have been more screwed up. LOUD
