“Perfect wedding night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2011

We went to the Pratt house right from our wedding reception - the room was gorgeous, we kicked off our shoes, "lit" the fireplace and enjoyed the luxury. In the morning the jacuzzi was perfect for my feet that danced a little too much. We were greeted for breakfast which we enjoyed completely. We'll be back for anniversary #1 and hopefully many more after that.

perfect choice, perfect night.

Could not ask for a more wonderful experience.

Rooms are beautifully furnished with very comfortable four-poster beds, chaise lounge and other furniture at this historical B&B. The entire bedroom is warmed by a gas-fed Franklin stove that produces wonderful fireplace-like fires and adjoined by a private bathroom with showers/whirlpool baths that are perfect. In the public area, the living room is a delightful place to relax and meet other guests, as is the dining room where everyone gathers for breakfast at one extremely long, well-set table at which a 3-course morning feast is over-ample and delicious.

We were looking for a B&B with a fireplace for a New Year's Eve vacation. This B&B more than met our expectations. We stayed in the English Cottage Room which had a fireplace, skylight, chaise lounge, 4 poster bed, cable TV plus a DVD player and lots of little details that made for comfort and beauty. The large bathroom had a huge jacuzzi tub and all the amenities one would expect from a modern hotel AND it was built in the 1700's. Upon arriving we were greeted by Patty and offered coffee, tea or hot apple cider and homemade cookies. The breakfast was served at a very long table in a colonial dining room with a corner cabinet displaying lots of English china. There were homemade muffins, pastries and a plate with fresh fruit, quiche, sausages and toast plus fresh juice and all sorts of beverages. We ate at a nearby restaurant called Rosemary and Sage and cannot recommend that restaurant enough - great service and fabulous food.

We are regulars at your B&B. I think this was my 4th stay, and normally we love it. On the plus side, your new cook did a great job and was very nice. We stayed in the Library, which we've stayed in before and loved it...however, this time we had a problem.

On friday night when we arrived the heat was off and the room was in the 50's. I called and someone came to fix the furnace--which they did and the heat was restored by around 11PM or so. However, the next morning we awoke to a strong fuel-oil smell in the room. This persisted the entire next day and night...and being winter, the storm windows prevented us from ventillating the room by opening windows. We didn't sleep very well and were getting nauseous from the smell, so we checked out as soon as we could on Sunday. We told the woman who was working that day, and she said she'd notify you, but this definitely detracted from our experience. I haven't been contacted yet.

We'll come back, as we really like your place - but this particular problem needs to be addressed.

We had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful place for Thanksgiving weekend. My mother-in-law, and sister-in-law and her husband were staying at another B&B in Old Lyme which was completely booked. And were we LUCKY to stay here instead. Their rooms did not have individual fireplaces and heat and they froze every morning. In addition, the rooms were spacious and charming; breakfast was a delight. A thoughly enjoyable pleasure to stay here. My husband, 23 year old son and I all highly recommend staying here!
