Had a wonderful lunch there about a week ago with 2 lady friends, salad of mixed greens, cucumbers, gorgonzola cheese, pears, candied pecans, fresh hot bread brought out by nancy herself.
Could not wait to try dinner with my husband, we made reseverations which really were not necessary, our server, Jennifer took our drink orders which took awhile to arrive, made our dinner selection, waited to order a second drink but our Jen was busy at the bar chatting with customers, fortunately, we had a lovely bus girl who got her attention.
Wine arrived in a carafe, not poured, meal arrived, no string beans as ordered, had to go back to the kitchen.By now we were looking at each other as why we came here, chicken marsala was okay, swordfish could
done w/o the caper sauce but who knew. If not for Katie, our bus girl, we
would not have been asked if everything was alright, inattentive service from our waitress was unacceptable and we are not food snobs.Did speak to another waitress, Barbara who was charming at another table, wish we had her for our waitress! Katie recommended the carrot cake which was a good choice.Keep Katie and Barbara, keep Jennifer at the bar to chat with customers, we will stick with lunch when Nancy is there.

We were welcomed by the owner, a very nice woman who recommended a few choices from the menu, which turned out to be excellent! The atmosphere was very warm and inviting and the price was reasonable for such delicious food!

This is a lovely spot in Old Saybrook right on the main road. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is charming and delightful on the inside. It's relatively small and intimate and the food is quite good and very reasonable. A couple of us had the daily special which was salmon with a mango sauce--it was very good. All entrees come with a salad and veggies--almost unheard of these days. We wanted to try the pumpkin mousse but it was already sold out so we shared a coconut dessert that was very good. Wines are reasonably priced and there is a small bar. This is now on our "go to" list year round.

I think your comment that a dining experience "ruined your life" shows your lack of maturity. My experience at Nancys has always been wonderful. Get a life!
