“What a Bore”
Reviewed May 4, 2012

The new owners did a fantastic job in creating a beautiful interior. What they have forgotten or better yet is failed to find is a cook with any pazazz. The menu items are a bore with very little creativity and rather bland. We waited a long time for their new opening just to be very disappointed with the foods. Tim Delaney

After visiting the Florence Griswold Museum on a fine spring day, five of us walked across the street to the inn on the advice of museum staff. We learned that the new owners had reopened the inn after being closed for a year for extensive renovations & that lunch & dinner dining was in full swing. We had an elegant, reasonably priced lunch. Each sandwich & salad had a special flare. The sweet pea soup, unlike any we'd ever tasted, prompted our ordering another large bowl so we all could try it. The delicately ginger under tone & cinnamon encrusted crostini was a hit. We had a delightful chat with the chef & returned later in the day to: sample three delicious desserts, visit the kitchen, check-out the totally refurbished guest rooms. We will definately make the trip from Boston to Olde Lyme a regular event, to dine at the Inn, visit the Museum, & see the Art Association exhibits.

Room Tip: (The guestrooms will be available soon - I couldn't "unclick" sleep quality.) There ar...
