This is the most wonderful resort you'll ever visit. The location in unbeatable, bungalows are huge and well equiped. The stuff is ultra friendly and helpful. The owners, Moon and Luc, play some cool music on their sound system. The eco pool is awesome!

Get here! It's true paradise in the middle of the jungle.

Dear guests, thank you thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us. Everything was not perfect (especially the swimming pool where we had to repair some equipment). Your comment encourage us to continue and thank you for your music on the pool that I listen now!! Take care and hope to see you again!

Let me start by saying that the resort property is beautiful, well maintained, and with the most lovely views. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the clouds roll in and out over the mountain across the river. The food was quite delicious, especially the mango sticky rice. The place is quiet and calm and peaceful.

I do have several words of caution, that others may have mentioned.
1. The website offers massages. My masseuse I think was also the gardener. She did not know what she was doing and I felt like the money was wasted.
2. Yoga class is offered, and is taught by the proprieter. She is friendly and warm, but is quite obviously not a professional yoga instructor as the poses were advanced, complex, and did not flow easily.
3. There are a LOT of stairs. The restaurant/lobby is on top of the hill. All the rooms are down the hill at various levels. The stairs are very slippery. This place is not suitable for anyone with difficulty walking.
4. The dock on the river is quite a trek from the restaurant area, and is in need of serous repair. We scrambled over rocks to get in the boat one day.
5. The restaurant staff are friendly, but service is VERY slow.
6. The natural pool is beautiful and relaxing to sit int, but is VERY slippery.
7. Wifi service really only available in the central restaurant area, not in the rooms
8. Water pressure incredibly low on our last day

In summary, while I would stay here again, my expectations would be very different, as I now know about the hilly geography and lack of real masseuse/yoga practitioners.

Unfortunately our budget as backpackers only allowed us one night stay in this beautiful hotel. The price was quite fair compared to the competition. The room was beautiful and clean. We had a brilliant time walking around the surrounding area and had a bit too much fun in the very cool eco pool which to our surprise was heated. Would definitely recommend the hotel, the surroundings are simply magical and from the viewing hut we got to see some local villagers fish and what appeared to be wild elephants on the opposite bank of the river.

My only advice would be that the showers could do with a bit of an upgrade. We were really excited to have a decent shower after weeks of staying in cheap shared accommodation with questionable bathrooms and we were a little disappointed to find it a little lacking. This was only a minor thing though and should not put you off making a visit!

The eco-pool is definitely not marketed well enough, it's really awesome and has a gorgeous view overlooking the mountains!

Dear Guest, Thank you to share your experience that you had at Zen Namkhan Resort. For the shower I am sorry for the inconvenience. It's lack of regular maintenance (I take full responsibility) sand time to time block the head of the shower and we need to clean it up regularly what was not the case. Thank for your comment for the ecologic swimming pool not easy to keep it at it's best but we try hard. (the swimming pool it's not heated in a contrary I will like to make it more cool!)

The location of this hotel was great. The ambience was quite special too - you are able to watch the extremely busy street from the comfort of al fresco dining "streetside"; or, relax in the cool haven that is the dining room, courtyard cafe or your room. The style of the hotel invokes beautiful facades, large and very old magnolia trees, carrera ceilings, an elegant wooden staircase with wood panelling throughout the hotel. My husband said that this was his favourite hotel - ever. We will definitely be back.

Stayed for 3 nights in May at the start of my stay in Laos.
The resort is set about 30mins outside Luang Prebang in the ‘jungle’ of Laos. When you book there are great perks to booking direct such as their free pick-up service, treks, classes etc so check out their website.

I was so lucky to have the resort to myself and felt completely spoilt. The owners couldn’t do enough to make my stay comfortable and friendly.

I would point out that although the wooden villas are extremely comfortable and well equipped, there is no air con and you do need to sleep under mosquito nets. If spiders, moths and general bugs are not your thing you might want to think twice. It also involves short walks up and down slopes/steps so those with mobility issues should be aware.

This is a great place to relax and do as much or as little as you want in stunning surroundings. I did yoga each morning for an hour and cannot think of a better way to start the day overlooking incredible scenery. Evening meals offered a good variety and were very reasonably priced.
A wonderful start to my stay in Laos.

This place was very peaceful with helpful staff and great food. If you are considering I would highly recommend spending 2 or 3 nights in town and then when you want to get out of the town come here for 2 or 3 nights. The one downside of this place is that it can be difficult to get to town and they will take you town for free sometimes but only when they go, which sometimes is only every 2 or 3 days. Great place, but would recommend stay a few days in town then a few days here.

From the moment we arrived at Zen we that knew we knew that we made the right choice. The welcome was warm and we felt immediately immersed in the beauty of the natural surroundings.

We had booked 'Plenitude', a bungalow set in an isolated spot, accessed via a bamboo bridge through the jungle. Just crossing the bridge to reach our bungalow was an adventure in itself and arriving at it, perched on the edge of the mountain with breathtaking views, we realised it was worth the hike!

Our room with it's huge balcony, tasteful decor and attention to detail offered the perfect balance of comfort whilst absorbing the natural surroundings. Waking to the sounds of the jungle and the sunrise over the montains was unforgettable. A certain level of fitness may be required to reach the dining area but the food made it more than worthwhile!

The infinity pool, whilst uncovential was a delight and offered the most stunning views across to mountains and a means of cooling down on a hot day.

As well as a varied and tasty breakfast menu, the evening options completely satisfied our tastes for SE Asian food, and was of a very high standard. Service was always excellent all round.

We spent 6 fulfilling days at Zen, relaxing and participating in local activities and would highly recommend a stay here!

Room Tip: Choose 'Plenitude' for the extra adventure and stunning views!
