“A great find”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Stayed one night as we were attending a concert at Mohegan Sun Casino. Very clean, quiet & a friendly staff. Right off the highway & only 7 miles to the casino. Small fridge, microwave & coffee maker in the room was ideal! Nice pool/area, decent gym.

Our room was not ready in time so they gave us a complementary drink ticket for the bar which was very nice.

A few "minor" complaints - pillows were too fluffy (woke up with a neck ache), not enough parking in the front lot, no exhaust fans in the bathrooms.

Overall, a great place to stay! I would certainly stay again & recommend it to family/friends.

I stayed for three nights and from beginning to end I could not have been more happier with the service provided at this location. The front desk staff members Bradford and Carolyn were extremely friendly and welcoming. Gail, the operations manager went above and beyond expectations to make sure I had a great stay. The shuttle service was prompt and on time. The food in the lounge was delicious. All the above is reason enough to return to Norwich. Thank you for a wonderful stay and making my birthday getaway one to remember!

We stayed for one night on Saturday April 26 2014. Stayed here just to go to the casino. Our room was on top floor with a balcony. Room was good, no problems. Small fridge with microwave and coffee maker. We ate at the bar which was nice, had the Bruins playoffs on the many TV's. We had the mixed apps(not sure what they called it) food was good as well as the drinks. Brenda was a very nice bartender. If you plan on taking the bus to the casino sign up early, we had to wait longer than we wanted to, about 1 hour. We ended up just taking a taxi back which cost $12-$15 no big deal, around 1am. The hotel was very busy and was booked full. A wedding reception was going on and also a bachelorette party that we were lucky enough to bus to the casino with. Drunk girls how fun. All in all worth it and would book there again.

We spent four nights at this hotel over the past Easter weekend. We picked this hotel for its' proximity to the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos. Price for this hotel is much better than the price for rooms at the casino hotels. We also picked it because we stayed here two years ago and had a positive experience.
Hotel has had some minor renovations since our last stay in 2012. The color scheme of the rooms was changed with new wallpaper, and the carpeting has been replaced since our last stay. The indoor pool area was also redone and looks much nicer than 2 years ago. The dresser, desk, microwave, fridge, and tv appear to be the same as 2 years ago. TV was a little disappointing: they have fewer channels now than they did on our 2012 stay, and many of the channels are analog, not digital, so picture quality was not that good. Rooms themselves are pretty large, although the bathrooms are very small. The in room temperature control did not always work consistently and did not always cool the room off as much as we would like.
This hotel does have some issues with its' housekeeping. We had 2 rooms. My mother in law likes to use the coffeemaker to brew coffee in the AM, and on 2 of the days we stayed, she returned to her room and found that the coffee and sugar was not replaced and the coffeemaker was not emptied or cleaned. She had to call the front desk both times to resolve the issue. Front desk was not always easy to contact, they don't always answer the phone. We also noticed that the plastic bags for our ice buckets were never replaced during our 4 day stay, we had to contact front desk to get fresh bags. The waste baskets in our rooms were not emptied on a daily basis either. Even though the carpeting is new, it appeared somewhat dirty which implies that they do not vacuum very often. Lastly, there was a giant dust ball in my M-I-L's room that we deliberately left alone as we wanted to see if housekeeper would remove. Needless to say, the housekeeper just left it there.
Most convenient feature of the hotel is that it offers a free shuttle back and forth to the Mohegan Sun complex. the shuttle ride is about 10 minutes each way and the shuttle driver was friendly and professional. It is also located right off of exit 80 of the Turnpike, so it is an easy on/easy off. Hotel has an onsite Sports bar/restaurant which offers nightly drink specials and many large screen tvs for watching sports action. The restaurant menu is strictly sports bar, mostly burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers. We ate dinner there one night, it was nothing spectacular but it was filling. If you like sports bar cuisine, it is an adequate alternative to leaving the property for dinner. There are a few restaurants that are a short drive from the hotel, and of course there are many dining options at Mohegan Sun.
This is not a place to stay if you are picky or finicky, but if your priority is to stay at an average property that is a good value and is close to the casino action, this is a viable choice.

Room Tip: Rooms facing front of property are larger.

Stayed here in February 2014 on a Priceline deal (if you bid a three-star on the Norwich area, you get this, The Marriott Courtyard, or Hyatt Place). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I emailed the hotel ahead of time and request a quiet room (based on reviewers tips on TA) and they kindly accommodated me. The front desk staff was eager to please. Apples and cookies at the front desk were a nice touch. As was the coffee available to go in the morning. The complimentary casino shuttle ran from about 4pm to 11pm (weekdays) and the driver was very nice.

Room Tip: Top floor, away from elevator, ice machine, not facing highway.

I don't stay in Holiday Inn's often. Haven't in awhile since I frequent Marriott and Hyatt brands in more recent years. This Holiday Inn was amazing. The room was twice the size of one of it's competitors in the area which was the Courtyard by Marriott. Clean, updated large modern rooms. A shuttle available to take you to the casino...a very friendly staff...literally right off the highway and minutes from Mohegan Sun....you can't go wrong with this hotel....I did get this hotel through the priceline express bidding so I am not familiar with their regular prices. I only paid $126....I would value this room easily at $165 per night max on weekends....
