“Affordable alternative for Mohegan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

We stayed here for St Patty's weekend on a trip to Mohegan. We had originally booked two rooms at the casino for almost $400 a room and after looking around i found this hotel and we literally got two king suites on the 6th floor for less than the price of one standard room at the casino. The check-in / check out was great, Justin at the front desk was great! There is a free shuttle to take you to and from the casino. The indoor pool was nice and warm and breakfast was SUPER good (please tell the cooks they rock). The rooms were nice then we expected for a holiday inn, pillows were tagged with firm / soft, the entire hotel was very clean. The only odd thing there were the red fire ants that bite in the corner of our room which i did not notice until we were leaving, so needless to say they left us alone. All in all, very nice hotel with really great staff.

Room Tip: on the 6th floor, some of the rooms have balconies - try to get one if you can :)

I stayed here for my birthday March 1st because Jasen Aldean was playing the rooms at Mohegan were a minimum of $450 and I could never afford to pay that and afford to eat or gamble. So I checked around for hotels with a shuttle that give military discounts. This hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were wonderful !!! We had no problem getting a shuttle to and from the casino and while we were waiting for friends to arrive we had a drink and appetizer at the restaurant . The food was good but average but the bartender was sweet and made a great drink. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: They have a good size refrigerator and a microwave in every room !

A group of 5 of us decided to take a last minute trip to Mohegan Sun and needed somewhere reasonable to stay. The price was great for a last minute Saturday night. The shuttle was on time and very accommodating. The rooms were very clean and having the fridge was convenient. Check in took only a few minutes, and check out was even simpler. The staff allowed us to check out at noon instead of 11 am with no additional fee, because we stayed the Saturday into Sunday of "springing ahead" for daylight savings.
I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

The staff of the Holiday Inn bent over backwards to help me plan a surprise for my husbands surprise birthday. They went above and beyond the call of duty to set up a beautiful surprise in our room, and a shuttle to the casino. FANTASTIC - oh, did I mention the awesome breakfast!!! GREAT JOB!!!

When we first arrived for our 3pm check~in, there was a huge line. We waited and were offered a complimentary glass of wine. This was unexpected but welcomed. It all soon became clear why the glasses of wine were being offered. When we finally got up to the desk~ they not only told us the room was not ready but had no idea when it would be ready and to just wait. We had 5pm reservations and a 7pm concert. We wanted to get ready before heading over to the casino. By the time we got in the room, we had waited an hour and had 20 min to get ready before the 430 shuttle. We made it down to the lobby at 428!!! Whew!!!
Not so much since the shuttle had already left and the next one was at 5!!
Now is the reason I decided to write this review~ Jerry who is a shuttle driver for the Holiday Inn had just arrived for his shift. When he found out the three of us missed the 430 ~ our Superman came to our rescue. Not only did he take us in his personal car at 445 to Mohegan but also gave us his contact information so when we needed a ride later~ we could contact him. He was truly the only reason our stay was great. Jerry went the extra distance and where customer service is concerned~ he tops the list! Truly I must say the only thing Holiday Inn in Norwich has going for them is Jerry, my Superman.

If you are looking for a lot of bells and whistles, spend the $600 to stay at the nearby casino hotels. If you are looking for a clean, quiet, reasonably priced and centrally located hotel with a friendly staff while you are visiting Mohegan Sun, check out the Holiday Inn.

We recently spent 2 nights here during the infamous Blizzard for 2013 while in town for the Bon Jovi concert at Mohegan Sun. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. Check-in and check-out were quick and effortless. Our room was clean and spacious, beds were comfy, room contained a microwave, fridge and flat screen satelitte TV. The room stayed comfortably warm despite the terrible weather outside. The bathroom was on the small side and the drains were a bit slow, but it was clean and functional, which is all that mattered to us. The pool was closed for remodeling, which were were told when we booked.

The location was perfect, just 1 exit (about 5 miles) from Mohegan Sun. We had planned to use the complimentary shuttle, but given the weather conditions it was not running that night. However, driving to the casino was quick and easy, even post-blizzard.

All in all, very satisfied with our stay, will consider again when in the area and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Vending machines are on floors 2 and 4

Average, slightly dated Holiday Inn. Clean and quiet, which was all I needed. Pool was being remodeled, as indicated on their website, so wasn't available. I can imagine it gets loud on weekends given the proximity to the casinos.

Got it from the web for short money, so I have no complaints.
