“Lovely, Lovely”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

It was a cold, rainy night when we headed to the Hotel Zero Degrees to have dinner with friends at Mediterraneo . It was warm and cozy in the restaurant, so we were off to a good start. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our friends had been there before and were helpful in making suggestions. The mussels in curry sauce were amazing. Oysters were perfect and the clams were delicious. The fish dishes were all cooked perfectly and the one steak dinner was great. Service was professional with just the right touch of fun and chatting. The manager came by and when my friend commented on how she had tried to duplicate the red curry sauce at home, he offered to give her some to go!!! That was really something! Desserts were yummy. There are only good things to say about this lovely dining experience and we will be back!!

“Good food, terrible service”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

We arrived for out 8pm reservation and were told that our table had other patrons who were having dessert. We were asked to go to the rooftop bar. No problem. The rooftop is very cool and the bar gal pours a nice drink! We were having dinner with old friends, so the delay didn't seem horrible, But by the time we were finally seated, it was 8:45 and we were raveenous. We were able to order drinks right away, We did get a piece of piece of bread right away, but the olive oil we asked for did not arrive for another 1/2 hour. When we finally got our starter at 9:30, we gobbled it down. We got our main course around 10. We were pretty tired by then, so we skipped dessert and coffee, which we would not have done had our meal not come so close to "bedtime". We probably wouldn't have been so annoyed had our waiter had been remotely apologetic about the delays. I definitely won't make a second seating reservation here again. I'd go 5 miles to New Canaan and order from the identical menu at Sole, their sister restaurant, at a location that is a bit sleepier.

“Nice menu, food, and setting”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

Recently we had dinner at the Mediterraneo in the Hotel Zero in Norwalk. We got a great table by the window overlooking the water. The menu has a nice variety and the food was very good. It can be expensive, but you can also keep the cost down depending on what you order. I would recommend the Mediterraneo.

“Lovely view, great cooking”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

What a great place you could so easily drive by and ignore! A nondescript street presence belies the lovely welcome that awaits inside Mediterraneo...very capable and unintrusive service, views (if you're lucky enough to get there in time) by the Flock Dam waterfall and active train tracks (I love watching trains go by!) and really excellent cooking. I thought prices were high for the portions (a delicious goat cheese "blintz" salad with beets cost $12 but was really small) but the presentation and cooking were terrific. Also if you're there on a Tuesday there's a half-price bottle of wine under $100 deal which is a great chance to drink good wine on a budget! We'll go back.

“Good food”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We live around the corner from Mediterraneo and drove by saying that we should check this place out. We have now gone several times and love the food and the atmosphere. It is not the cheapest place to eat but from the pizza to the fish, all the food was delicious. Since we have been there now several times, we have had great service to average service but it seems that can depend on how busy they are.
The location is beautiful with the waterfall. We have been here now for all the seasons and it never gets old, that view. I think drinks are a little pricey, since we would love to come to the bar for happy hour but with cost being high, it's just not practical. We have a group that goes out every Friday and I keep wanting to stop here but the bar is also small and probably would not accommodate us as well.
If you are looking for good food and a nice setting, then you have to try them.
