Small-medium sized aquarium. a great place to spend 2-3 hours.
Great shark tank, and Awesome spacious touch tank, we're both features that Mystic and Boston don't have.
Museum is in a great little downtown area with cute restaurants and shops.

“Aquarium Cruise - Long Island Sound”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

The Maritime Aquarium - Norwalk offers Long Island Sound educational cruises Saturdays in September and October. I called after reading the description of this 2 1/2 hour cruise on the wedbsite and asked if it was only for adults with children, the service person giggled in a very polite way and went on to describe the cruise, where to get tickets and where to park. She did an outstanding job so we bought three adult tickets for $20.50 each for the September 29 cruise.

Captain Mike, Susan and Janet created the 8 adults and one child with enthusiasm and pride in what they were doing. The cruise stays within the Norwalk harbor, but goes out to the lighthouse marking the beginning of the harbor. Janet, Susan and the crew(you are the crew and will probably get a little wet) do three pulls of the harbor to bring up various aquatic life. The contents of each pull are dumped in a large tub on the ship. Janet and Susan then picked through the contents and pulled out individual species to identify, count and record largest, smallest and number. Their knowledge and the love and pride for what they were explaining was obvious in the explanations that they gave. The one child, understandably, was getting a little rambunctious, so Captain Mike sat him in the Captain's chair for a short period, with Mike watching everything. Susan and Janet, when I asked a question about alewife, that they had not heard about went to their book to show me the difference between alewife and what we were looking at. This is an outstanding, enjoyable, educational afternoon at a great price.

“Small, interactive, family fun”

Really good time. Very interactive aquarium with wonderful docents and great exhibits. If you have an opportunity to attend one of the special programs, it is well worth going. Been to many different "specials" and they have all been wonderful

“Just enough for little guys.”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

This is the perfect aquarium for toddlers and younger children. Not too big but plenty to see and explore without overwhelming the kids. My three year old loved petting the rays and sand sharks. Meerkats were neat as were otters. A little bummed the albino alligator exhibit is not year round, five year old really wanted to see it.

“One of my favorite places”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

I never want to grow up if I can't continue to enjoy the programs and exhibits available at the Aquarium. There are hands-on exhibits which kids and adults love. The IMAX theatre often features terrific films which aren't always marine-oriented. The seals and otters are always on exhibit and are delightful to watch. The management is always upgrading the facilities and bringing in new exhibits, even if only temporarily. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back. All I need is a kid with whom to enjoy it.
