“A find”

I agree with the other excellent reviews. Last night was our first experience there and we are planning another and another with family and friends. This is the latest "best Greek restaurant" in the area. Being family owned and run be the reason.

“Simply Outstanding”
Reviewed May 28, 2012 via mobile

We happened upon this restaurant on a side street in Norwalk one evening after we had already eaten and vowed to return. We were very happy that we did.

Pontos serves authentic Greek cuisine and is a bustling little place that is bright and clean with excellent service. Food came out fast despite patrons seated at almost every table.

Everything we had was excellent right down to the Greek coffee. We will return to this great little place which in our opinion is better than any rival eatery in the larger cities.

“Marvelous , Authentic Greek cuisine, delicious and  amazingly affordable!”
Reviewed March 1, 2012

A gem of a Greek restaurant,  wonderfully priced!   Their menu is the real deal, and we have not had such authentic Greek cuisine, since frequenting Greek town, in Chicago!
order the gryos and flaming saganaki.. close to the garden cinema, it is a perfect place to have dinner before heading across the street to the Garden cinema... it is quaint,  cozy.friendly, amazingly priced, and delicious!

“Simple but serviceable”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

My parents and I went to Pontos for lunch and the place was not busy. So we thought that we would get great service. We were very wrong. We had to ask for water and our drinks 3+ times. It took for ever to order. The menu is limited - no spanakopita (spinach pie) or Tyropita (cheese pie). But the avgolemono soup ( chicken lemon) was very good, big pieces of chicken and orzo. Get the bowl because the cups are tiny. The Xorta salad and the beet & garlic salad were both yummy and served cold. The tzaziki had a great hit of favor for all the garlic lovers out there. The Gyro platter is huge and worth the money. The souvlaki was dry and the spices are not to my taste. They use a lot of cumin . The baklava was OK and they were out of most of the desserts. It took forever to get anything from our waitress. She ignored us, talked on the phone, to her friends or was in the kitchen. Most of the time we were her only table. Come to find out she is one of the owners. I'd say she needs better training.

“A taste of Greece”
Reviewed December 12, 2011

This has to be the best Greek restaurant outside of Greece. We were in Norwalk for a Greek event at the Taverna and went back the next day for lunch. The horiatiki salad brought me back to those sunny days of summer in Greece when a horiatiki was "de rigueur" for every meal. The beet salad had just the right amount of vinegar. The souvlaki and the octopus were both tender and tasty and cooked to perfection. The owners aim to please and spend time with every dish and every customer. The decor is a salute to the Greeks of Pontos, south of the Black Sea, keeping their culture and their music alive and vibrant! Highly recommended!
