Based on the other great reviews of this winery I can only guess our timing was "off." Five of us visited on a beautiful, chilly Saturday (10/26) and arrived at 3:15 pm. The grounds were gorgeous! The tent was set up for a wedding and everyone under the tent was hustling to get it ready.

We walked across the lovely patio into the winery tasting area and it was total chaos! The inside tasting bar was probably 3 or 4 deep. No one there to greet us and let us know what the protocol was for getting a tasting for the five of us. I saw a very "hassled" woman that looked like she maybe was an employee (no name tag or anything to identify her...just a good guess on my part) and I asked her what the protocol was. At first she told us to just get behind the rest of the crowd. It seemed like it was people just hanging at the bar versus tasting. It was too crowded to even walk into what looked like a little gift shop. Then the same woman shuffled us outside to a bar. She yelled for one of the guys that was inside in the back room to start our tasting. I must say it was beautiful at the bar on the patio. Even though quite chilly it was nice to be outside instead of inside with the crowd. We had a fun guy who was our wine server and the five of us had the outside bar to ourselves most of the time. We did the 7 tastings.

Part way through our tasting the same woman who seemed quite hassled and I am guessing she was the manager came out and wanted our wine sever to "hurry up" and come help her inside. No way could he leave us part way through and he also got five more customers. This woman could NOT control the inside crowd and get them to move along. I think they had to clear the place for the wedding.

They were obviously very short staffed and no way could handle the crowds. There was a big bus in the parking lot and another one pulled up but we weren't sure if they were wedding guests or additional wine tours. People on the bus were actually walking into the winery with Coors Light beer cans in their hands.

Big group of customers who were feeling "quite good" came out of the tasting room and sat on the patio tables (probably 12 of them) and started smoking BIG cigars and were actually quite obnoxious!

The best part was when a different woman who seemed to be the caterer for the wedding came out to our tasting bar before we were done and told our wine server that "that's it" and started taking all of the wine away from his bar! He wasn't even done with all of the pours for us and the new group that came!!

It was such a beautiful spot but we were really disappointed how it all played out. We must have gotten there too late in the day and they need to increase there staff big time. We visited another winery earlier in the day and they stop tastings before 3:00 pm on Sat and Sun if they have a wedding. It is very clear that is their policy and they had a wedding that day.

The wine was good and the beauty of the place will bring us back and hopefully we will have a better experience!

We were a party of 10 without reservations. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Wines are very good. It was a nice day we will be back.

My friends and I made a trip here to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. We've been to a number of vineyards around the state, but had never made it to Jonathan Edwards before. The vineyard was gorgeous and at the time it was being set up for a wedding (what an incredible place to have a wedding). The place had a deck off the tasting room - both were pretty crowded. We were able to find a small table to sit at, but the place was really too crowded to have all of us (a party of 6) sit together. We arrived around 2:00 so if you do have a group of people you might want to get there earlier. They allowed you to bring your own food and offered two different wine tastings (3 wines for $6 and 7 wines for $12).

My wife and I were looking forward to enjoying a relaxing day at a winery, and we could not have asked for a better day. The building and grounds are nice. The view from the deck was awesome. The Staff was helpful and informative during the wine tasting. I am not a Zinfandel drinker but it was the first time I had a Red Zinfandel and it was a good suggestion. We enjoyed a couple of bottles on the deck after the tasting and met a bunch of friendly people. Some of them just were passing through on a wine tour and some doing the same as us. I will definitely return if in the area again and highly suggest it as a stop. It was also close to Mystic.

We had been to this winery once before about 5 or 6 years ago and decided to try it again. A lazy, hazy Monday afternoon brought few people and a nice tasting experience. Our server, Raeanne, was very knowledgeable about the wines and the business. She said she loved working there as they are a Team and everyone pitches in. She invited us to walk the grounds and view the artwork upstairs. Tasting a bit pricey, as we are used to Finger Lakes, NY prices but includes a fine logo glass. Would recommend a stop here to enjoy the wine, nice grounds and Raeanne's knowledge!
