Hotel Location: Excellent, right on the door step by the beach and just a little away from the bustling side of the pier. Views from the rooms are great, beautiful sunrise and sunset.
Hotel Facilities: Excellent, what you see on the website is what they have and the pictures match the reality of it.
Hotel Rooms: Excellent, neat, clean, spotless, lovely white bedding
Hotel Conference: I used the chart room, a lovely room for a group of 10 and under, had everything that we needed.
Hotel Staff:
Reservation - The reservation manager Clyde Edwards is truly a gem at the hotel, he goes the extra mile to get you what you want, a rarity in the hotel industry these days. He made sure everything was as we wanted.
Conference - The staff here will see to all your needs, making you feel as if you a CEO of a big corporate, Mr Elvis is truly passionate about his work as well as the ladies with him.
Housekeeping - They were great, provided the extra bedding needed for me and gave a cot to my friend's room.
Reception - I'm sorry about this but I have to be honest, I felt the ladies at reception were a bit unfriendly, they don't smile when you walk up to the desk and somewhat reluctant to attend to your request.

I stayed at the hotel with lots of family and we had lots of kids with us. The kids were so enjoying themselves and they felt so at home at this hotel with the general staff always cool about them running around and teasing them here and there. They really had a blast of a time.

Thank you Protea hotel for the amazing coolness of your staff and being so relaxed with your guest. A must return for us.

Regards, Mohammed Matvad

Room Tip: Choose sea facing rooms. The lofts are great if you require space.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to the Shamwari Game Reserve and were pleased with our stay.

We were given a complimentary upgrade and had a very large and comfortable room. Also, hotel location is excellent, just by the beach and a few minutes walk from restaurants and the local mall and casino.

Breakfast was also very good. Overall a great stay, no complaints.

We arrived at the Protea Hotel Marine after about 30 hours flying from NZ and stayed there for two nights before beginning our tour of the Garden Route. We received a warm welcome and although our room was not ready, were invited to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and a drink. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the beach. There was a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini fridge and hair dryer. Staff were friendly, polite and particularly helpful with an issue we were having connecting to the Wi-Fi. Breakfast was an amazing selection of yoghurts, cereals, fresh and dried fruit, breads, croissants and more. Selections of hot dishes were also available with eggs cooked by the chef in whatever manner requested. The Hotel was within walking distance of the Boardwalk and several beaches. A great beginning to our holiday and first time ever visit to South Africa.

Our tour group of 37 stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My ocean view room was not huge, but had everything I needed, including a mini refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, and a desk with a light that allowed you to actually see what you were doing - a rarity these days! The breakfast buffet was great and included eggs made to order and plenty of other choices. The staff were very helpful and arranged for a transportation service to take 2 of us into Port Elizabeth to see the sights for a very reasonable price. As others have mentioned, the location is very convenient, with the beach just across the street, a shopping center within walking distance in one direction and plenty of restaurants and the Boardwalk casino and shops in the other. We had a nice stroll along the beach one morning and a great dinner at a Greek restaurant in the Boardwalk area one evening. Be sure to make time to watch the beautiful fountain in the center of the Boardwalk at 7 PM when it puts on a show with music, colored lights and dancing waters. It was a pleasant surprise as we were eating!

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are especially nice, if you spend much time in your room.
