“Clean and comfortable, close to airport”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Stayed one night after a safari. I found the staff very accommodating and allowed us to drop off our heavier bags and valuables whilst we went on an over night safari.

The weather was quite bad during our stay so much so the first room had no heat, got moved and the second room no electricity ! We got sorted in the end.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable with lovely deep baths. I found though a few things not working ie light switches and some bulbs were gone, which is quite poor for a Radisson room.

Had dinner in the restaurant which was tasty service a little slow but the food made up for it. The hotel doesn't offer an airport shuttle considering the hotel is only a few minutes away, which would be convenient as it offered in many other Radissons.

Overall despite the problems from the weather i would recommend this hotel and found the staff quite friendly and i would return again.

We received an upgrade to a beautiful suite. The electricity in the first room was out, but they moved us within two minutes. The views were nice, the amenities were great, and we had a great night's sleep. We dined in the hotel restaurant, and service was very slow. We were a bit tired from a long drive, so perhaps we were not as patient as we could have been, but we just wanted to eat and go to bed...and even to order took at least 10 minutes. However, the food tasted good. I wish we had more time to hang out in P.E. but would recommend the hotel for a place to sleep for sure.

Possibly the tallest building in PE. I was here on business and stayed on a high floor. I got some great views of Summerstrand and the beach. The hotel itself is quite nice. Rooms are average. They have a great breakfast spread. The staff is quite friendly (after all, Port Elizabeth is the 'Friendly City' in South Africa!)

Room Tip: A higher floor facing Summerstrand & the beach.

We rejigged our trip and for one night urgently needed somewhere to stay in PE. We booked on hotel-com and got a great room for £100. We arrived at The Radisson Blu at midnight and left at 11am, but despite only staying for 11 hours we felt we had lucked out.

The check-in man was super-friendly and seemed to sense that we had had a very stressful journey. The room was compact, yet well-laid out and with the 'low' bathroom wall, felt light and airy. The shower was powerful, the toiletries were lemony-scented, but above all, the pillows were deliciously soft and my husband and I slept peacefully. In the morning, we saw we had a stunning view of the sea, the free internet was much welcomed and there were shiny apples on the front desk for a portable breakfast.

In fact the only thing we didn't like was the chair at the desk in the room; its legs stick out at a strange angle, so as you approach, your instinct is to get closer to the chair than you should, so we kept tripping over these sticky-out legs. It's a quibble, but change the chairs and this would be a great room all round.

Stayed in a suite (2 adults and 2 young kids) for 2 nights. Hotel understood requirements of occupants at the time of booking. Arrived late on the evening of the first night. Room was not prepared for number of occupants. Took them over an hour to sort out room. Housekeeping staff got it wrong and had to be called twice to sort out bedding and linen. Not enough towels and the quality of the towels was threadbare. Breakfast staff poorly managed and understaffed. Management staff in breakfast area not professional (in fact standoffish and rude). Waited in queues for breakfast, buffet took a while to be replenished, tables were not attended to, properly set, and cleaned. Service not worthy of rates paid for a luxury hotel. Hotel needs to up its game with service expected of its brand

Room Tip: If you're willing to pay the rates to experience the services of a luxury hotel, rather try anot...
