We stayed in Bayside Guesthouse in January 2013 before starting on our Addo National Park and Garden Route trip for two nights.

We were looking for a safe and comfortable place to stay and booked into Bayside mainly for this reason after reading the positive reviews. As the place seemed rather professionally run, we did not expect the typical B&B atmosphere or a personal touch to it.

Arrived in Port Elizabeth, we were positively surprised: We received a warm welcome from the owners. Our son was delighted there was another kid and the dog. Stephanie and Janine cooked great breakfast and welcomed us like friends on a visit over. The breakfast area is bright and friendly, invites to enjoy a relaxed breakfast.

The room was professionally furnished, clean and comfortable. The pool and barbeque area allowed to spend a lazy afternoon on the premises. You would probably not do this for many days as the guesthouse grounds are not overly big, but it is ideal to relax for a while before moving on.

The beach and sea are in walking distance, however you have to know that Port Elizabeth is also known as the "windy city", so you may have sharp wind and blowing sand depending on your luck with the weather.

The airport is very close by, ideal for late arrivals / early departures (but cannot really be heard, no noise problems). There are some shopping malls etc. not too far away. Port Elizabeth as a city is not overly exciting as a tourist destination. However there is enough to do around like zoos, activities etc.. We only visited an animal farm with our son before we moved on.

Chose to book Bayside Guest house for it's location in the quiet suburb of Summerstrand. After a long flight needed to rest & unwind. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable & quiet. The room had tea & coffee making facility which is always convenient. A good cooked breakfast every morning in the bright dining room. Stephanie & Janine very hospitable, pleasent & helpful spending time passing on information. Cassie always on hand to meet & greet ! The gardens around the house are constantly maintained & cared for. Hope to return to S.A. again, relaxed in knowing that we will be looked after at Bayside.

I booked Bayside Guesthouse from home and I was more than surprised: it was even nicer than in the web: all nice and well arranged with a lot of green. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent - many thanks to Janine and Stephanie who made us feel more like friends and not just guests. We spent a wonderful week there and I hope to come back very soon.
Best regards and all the best for the Bayside Team

Its close to the beach in a very nice area. The staff here is warm, friendly and makes you want to come back. The management/Owners really go's out of their way to making your stay comfortable. I stayed here for 3 nights, its the second time im here and will be coming back again. Its very safe and peaceful. I would love to bring my family with on one of my trips down to Port Elizabeth and saty at the Bayside Guest house

Bayside is located in the quiet suburb of Summerstrand. Within easy walking distance of the beach and a more energetic walk to restaurants. Although parking at the Boardwalk and at other restaurants is easy and safe.
We stayed at Bayside for six nights. On arrival and throughout our stay we were made most welcome by Stephanie, Clifford and Janine. They made it more like staying with friends than as paying guests and were always on-hand to offer help, assistance with things to do and see in PE and a friendly chat. At breakfast time, as well as the hearty breakfast, the hosts create an all inclusive atmosphere between the guests.
Our room (room 4) was spacious and well appointed with a good outside living space.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and overall experience at Bayside and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 4 is set at the back of the property in garden area.
