“Used to be a pub”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Once upon a time you use to go to the bar at a pub in the early evening and get "bar food" sandwiches and light snacks.

Since Youngs redid the Foley Arms they have tried to turn it into an upmarket bar which it isn't.

You can only be served a sandwich up til 5pm, the bar snacks consist of a hand full of nuts for which they charge the earth or a small bag of crips which is also priced outrageously.

They of course want you to dine in their new resturant. And that's it folks. If your looking for a sandwich try the coop down the street.

The Foley is a really tasteful hotel/gastro pub. The service at reception and in the restaurant was excellent. We booked in for one of two nights of a weekend stay and quickly decided to stay for the second night. We ate in the restaurant on both nights - the menu is excellent and well priced. Breakfast was excellent a great choice. We were attending the Triathlon show at Sandown Park and the hotel was well located. Would recommend without hesitation

As Gastro pubs go in the area this is right up there with the best of them. The Foley has been very tastefully re-furbished at what is clearly considerable expense. Have eaten here on three occasions now and the quality of the food (they obviously use top produce) has been consistently very good. The steaks in particular are excellent and everything is served up by friendly and efficient staff.
The thing I particulary like about the Foley is the space. From the bar area to the restaurant you are afforded plenty of room so, although the Foley is busy, you are never rubbing shoulders with other diners and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
Top marks!

We eat out on a regular basis in the Surrey area on a Saturday lunchtime and had out first visit to the Foley about one month ago having heard that it has recently under taken a huge refurbishment. The property that also boasts a hotel has been done very tastefully. It offers both a spacious bar and large restaurant and with what looks like a large area outside that will be very welcome in the summer. Both the service and quality of food were excellent and amongst the best we have experienced. I have been back for a second visit and once again could not fault the food or the staff who were both friendly and efficient. The fish and chips and the steak were my choice of fare as a main course on my two visits and were both top quality . Really pleased to have found a new gem in the Surrey area and looking forward to a return visit in the near future.

I have recently been to The Foley twice for Saturday lunch and all I can say is that on both occasions the food and service was excellent. We had a drink in the bar first and received friendly, prompt service. We were a party of four so shared some starters - the baked Camembert and the chicken liver parfait - both were excellent. Between us we then moved on to the burger, battered haddock (huge portion) and chicken and leek pie. Again no complaints here - all fantastic. We will definitely be going back again very soon.
Great atmosphere, service, menu choice in a beautiful dining room.

This hotel has got to be one of the most perfect hotels in which I have stayed (and I have stayed in a lot!)
The warm welcome and clear information about the hotel was a great first impression. Although it was late when we arrived we were still served dinner. The dining room is truly lovely and the choice of background music was brilliant. Food just lovely, and champagne by the glass (yum) plus the best ever waitress who couldn't do enough for us. Thank you May.
Full and replete we retired to our bedroom. Beautiful decor throughout the hotel and the bedroom too was fantastic. Wonderful hospitality tray, fresh milk in the fridge. Big, comfy bed. Quiet room with no disturbances whatsoever. Double sinks by the entrance to the shower and toilet room, separated by a frosted glass door. Huge and powerful rainshower. Lovely toiletries supplied. Lots of wardrobe space. Check out quick and efficient and friendly and helpful as it was on our arrival.Spacious, secure car park at the back.
This hotel has ticked all the boxes for both of us. With service and style such as this they have a winner on their hands. I genuinely didn't want to leave.

stayed at the foley arms last night very nice rooms and the bar downstairs is also very pleasant but everybody seems to be fighting for a comfortable chair. The music is to loud and unnecesassary because nobody is listening to it and everybody is shouting over it. breakfast was very nice yet again loud music and concentrate orange which everybody knows is bad for you. unfortunatley my husband is diabetic and had a hypo in the middle of the night but there were no biscuits in the room we got around it with sugared water but when he phoned down to ask if they had any bisuits in the hotel they said no they only had crackers (what if there was a real emergency).having said that all the staff were pleasant and helpful
