“Among the Very Best Lobster Rolls”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

This place is just a few blocks from Abbott's - a much more advertised place that is popular among tourists. Abbott's is very good, but Ford's may be even better. The lobster is as fresh as can be and served in hot or cold rolls. They also have a surprising variety of specials for the size of the place, but lobster is the star here. Outdoor seating only, but plenty of tables have umbrellas and the view of the harbor is outstanding. Not sure how the service could be a problem as someone noted here - the hostess told us to sit wherever we like the moment we entered.

“Pure New England”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Sorry about "Disappointed". Must have been a bad day for someone as our seating and service were prompt and friendly. This rustic and informal dockside gem is about as nautical New England as it gets. Splendid outdoor setting overlooking a picture-like vista of moored sailboats. Lobster dominates the menu but there are several other seafood and land food options, typically offered as specials. Our spicy Thai peel and eat shrimp appetizer was scrumptous and fun; my lobster fettucini Alfredo must have had an entire lobster in it, smothered in cream sauce. Totally delicious and decadent, as were the lobster rolls of my partner and our friend. This is a local diners' secret place and it would be nice to keep it that way, but hey, what about the rest of us?

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

Not much to say here. Waited at the entrance to the seating area as the hostess made eye contact with us several times without any acknowledgement. After asking if we should sit ourselves, the hostess said that there were seats available on the dock. Ok Great, nice romantic dinner right on the dock, perfect right? Not so much. Sat for twenty minutes without any service. Not sure if this was the waitstaff's oversight or the hostess. Regardless, we left. Kind of disappointing since we were expecting the type of culinary experience that others have posted such great reviews about.

“Worth a trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

We are local food enthusiasts who find only a very few restaurants in Mystic worth a visit. Ford's is one of them. The menu is greatly expanded from last season and the entrees are quite good. There are plenty of options besides their delicious lobster and they are well thought out and well prepared. The service is excellent. This is a very casual restaurant with outdoor seating by the water with very good food. This is a far better destination than its nearby competitor, Abbot's, which used to be our go to place for lobster.

“The best lobster rolls and chowder”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

This dock side restaurant is where you will find the locals. Friendly service, right on the water. Lobster rolls and chowder are the best I've ever had. A must.
