“Lovely”

Just lovely. From the warm welcome to the clean and new rooms in the Captain Clark house, this Inn was magnificent. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, and it was the perfect little getaway. The bathrooms are large and inviting with a delicious bathtub. The decor was beachy, but with a Laura Ashley touch of elegance. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the afternoon cookies and coffee were perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone, and plan on coming back as soon as possible!

Room Tip: There's two houses, the main house and the brand new captain clark house. We stayed in the capt...

I booked a girls weekend here with two friends, and we planned to visit some spas in the area. The first thing that you see upon arrival are the lovely grounds of the inn, which are just made for enjoying the outdoors and the view. They have plenty of adirondak chairs, outoor dining tables, and even high top pub tables where you can sit an enjoy your ample breakfast. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. The common room is nautically decorated to match the area. Some nice added touches are the giant glass boat full of pretzels for the guests to enjoy any time and the complimentary glass of wine we were offered upon arrival. We were given a quick tour of the property, which is right on the Niantic river at the marina. We had a room that slept three, and it was spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated with some nautical decor, but nothing too frilly or cluttered. The one surprise for me was the ancient 13" tube TV that was in the room. I belive all establishments should have a flat screens by now. They do have free wifi, but it was a very slow connection from our room. The room had a ceiling fan, the beds were comfortable, and the linens and towels were of good quality. Breakfast is the special feature of the inn since most inns now only serve continental breakfasts. Here you get a hot breakfast - one day we had an egg casserole and the next was a version of baked French toast that was more like nutty cinnabons - very tasty, but quite rich. There is fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, granola, english muffins, bagels and assorted juices. They encourage you to take your mug of delicious coffee and enjoy the great outdoor space which is accessible through the screen doors off the breakfast room. The outdoor speakers are a nice touch as well, we enjoyed some music along with the view. On our second morning, the owners came by after returning from out of town, and greeted us warmly. They inquired how we were doing, and if everything was ok. They explained that within a few weeks the yard and gardens would be transformed with flowers and colorful plantings everywhere. I only wish we could have seen this, but I could tell everthing is impeccably maintained. We enjoyed dinner at the Black Sheep Pub which had live music both nights. We are walking urbanites, so we walked everywhere in town, but I am sure some folks would still drive to the restaurants and shops. The Inn has a book of menus and the employees are more than happy to make a suggestion about places to eat or things to do. We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a private deck for that extra special touch.

What a lovely place this is. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the sweet smell of chocolate chip peanut butter cookies baking in the oven. We were shown where we could always find coffee, tea, hot water, cold sodas, bottled water and small snacks in the gathering room. Our room on the 2nd floor had views of the harbor. There were two beds, so if we had wanted to sleep three we could have. Visiting our college daughter though, we didn't use the extra bed. It made the room only just a tiny bit cramped. The bathroom was clean, views out it's window also.
Breakfast was served in the communal dining room and was delicious. My husband can't eat dairy, so instead of the wonderful frittatta they were serving, the hostess made him scrambled eggs. The owner came in and checked in on every table to ask what we'd seen, offer tips on the area and generally be hospitable. He was talkative and friendly, but not in the least overbearing.
From here we visited our daughter at Connecticut College, went to the famous Mystic Pizza, wandered through some waterfront beach paths and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's also very convenient to the ferry going to Orient Point Long Island, so many more destinations possible.
I'm sure we'll stay here again next time we come to visit.

We stayed only one night at the Inn at Harbor Hill Marina, but loved every minute. One of the best run B & B's we've ever stayed in. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3, which had wonderful water views from 3 sides of windows.
