We have eaten a few times now at the Village Pizza Grill here in Niantic. its a short drive out of town on main street next to East Coast Taco. place is on the small side with 16 or so seats. plus an outdoor seating area. This place does a lot of take out . The menu is large, witch sometimes quality suffers when a menu is so big, but evertything we have eaten here has been very good.
Tonight we had a bacon cheeseburger platter and a crispy chicken wrap platter. platter comes with fries and pickle chips. both platters were exceptional. both platters were so big neither of us was able to finish the sandwich or the abundant amount of fries that were on the platter. we did eat all the pickles. everything was very fresh, hot and well made. the lettuce and tomato on the burger platter were ultra fresh and crisp. we will be getting these

All we can comment on are the grinders on a Sunday afternoon for takeout when Hartford Grinder in Niantic was closed. But we have to say they were wonderful.

Short wait for toasted grinders -- 2 eggplant parm with peppers , 1 Italian and a speciality: The Cambridge. Shaved steak, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. Didn't regret trying this one! All in all a good lunch!

This place has a hugh menu especially for such a small place. This should have been my first warning about quality. How can any restaurant, even larger ones, put out top notch food when they have such a hugh menu? My wife ordered a gyro. It was basically average, but would have been great if the pita wasn't toasted and tough. Her fries were very good. I got the linguine with white clam sauce. The amount was enough for three people, however the quality was very poor. The linguine was well overcooked and the clam sauce was nothing great. The salad wasn't bad and the garlic bread was very good. The service was very good. There is no way they can put out quality food with the big menu. I probably won't be back.

The pizza is o.k. and super cheap.... much better options downtown Niantic for greek style pizza. However, their salads are out of this world and they have a wonderful housemade creamy garlic dressing, homemade appetizers like spinach pie and onion rings. All very good. The staff is always very friendly. I think the decor could use something extra, the restaurant itself always seems a little empty and sad but with definite potential.

Just wanted a grinder to take home so I decided we would give this place a try. There were only 4 tables with customers and it took 5 min for someone to take my order. I have worked in restaurants and it seems like they didn't know what they were doing. Odd place. The grinders were good but nothing special. Not sure if I am up to trying the pizza.
