I stayed here in August and have just got round to reading the reviews. I'm afraid we had a rather less positive experience than most of the others on this site.
My family had two rooms right at the back, near a security fence. The concrete stairs had clearly not been cleaned or even hosed down for a long time and were covered in cobwebs. Both rooms smelled as if something terrible had happened in them.
In addition, a group of gentlemen spent the entire afternoon and early evening sitting in the area outside the rooms cutting each other's hair and later setting up a barbecue. It was a little off-putting having to walk past them whenever we went in or out of our rooms, but they were very friendly - and even offered me a piece of chicken! Nevertheless, it wasn't the hotel experience I was expecting.
I did ask if we could change rooms (one of the few occasions I have done this), but there were none available for our family group.
As a postscript, four weeks after our stay, I developed the symptoms of Lyme Disease - which was, of course, first identified in Connecticut. It is carried by ticks that live on animals such as deer and mice, and is usually cured by a course of antibiotics, which I am currently taking.
Would I recommend the New Haven Premiere Hotel and Suites? What do you think?More
