If you are hesitating making your reservations, you shouldn't be!

We loved it here. Everything we requested or asked about was taken care of right away by staff at every level. Loved the full kitchen!! Breakfast in the mornings was great - not a huge selection but what was there was tasty; we weren't around for the evening spread, though. It was difficult with 2 of us having laptops and other mobile devices to "share" the network cable to plug in to get Internet. Wireless would be a great improvement. Maybe this is a minute point, but the soaps, shampoos and conditioners were a great size - much better than the barely-one-use ones at most hotels. Beds were extremely comfortable, kitchen had a good basic supply of cooking/baking pans and supplies, and TV had enough channels that we found entertainment when we wanted it. We used the shuttle service once, and that was a pleasant experience, too.

its not the ritz but your not paying ritz prices the location is not great BUT the room and complete kitchen suite are great. Free bus service to the train station an added bonus. Breakfast is really good and there was food most evenings for those not wishing to go out. Although we didnt use this service i think it was a really great idea.

Had to travel to New Haven on business, found Premiere Hotel and Suites on TripAdvisor, and agree wholeheartedly with everyone's favorable assessment. Great value (very competitively priced), neat, clean, spacious room (complete suite with full kitchen), thorough and conscientious housekeeping, with courteous, helpful, professional front staff (even the shuttle driver said "How long will you be staying with us [note the pronoun]). In fact, the convenient shuttle was the selling point for me, since it negated the need to rent a car. Don't be put off by the fact that it's a few miles outside of downtown; the shuttle makes this not a problem. Another plus is the complimentary breakfast and dinner most days (don't know about weekends). Good, plentiful food (think one step up from Hampton), although admittedly not a wide choice. But there are also some excellent restaurants within walking distance (Sage, for seafood, and Brazi's for Italian). Absolutely would stay here again, and recommend it with confidence. Best part: it's independently owned and operated--not part of a chain.

Room Tip: Suites in the back are a little dark; ask for one toward the front.

There is not much choice of accommodation in New Haven but this hotel offers amazing value for money. The suites are large with full kitchens. They tend to be on the dark side and the furnishings are somewhat standard but basically one gets what one pays for. I found the front desk very helpful and pleasant. The last reviewer must have just been unlucky or was moody at the time of writing! Most of everything is free too. Parking, wired internet, breakfast and a light and changeable high tea/dinner (on weekdays). Extraordinary that the hotel goes to this extent at no extra charge to the guest. After all, they needn't bother and could instead save on the expense. It is not haute cuisine, true but the soup I had on the evening I was there was delicious.

The area is not well served for dining options and driving into the centre of New Haven is awful - nowhere to park easily and confusing. So a light dinner (reception) was welcome. The manager says that they will have wifi in 2013. But there is nothing wrong with the wired service available at no charge in the rooms. Why the fuss? I am currently staying an a Hilton where there is only wired internet in the rooms at a daily rate of $12.95. Ridiculous and that is a global hotel chain. I found the Premiere Hotel and Suites perfectly satisfactory and with all these complimentary perks thrown in. Breakfast is okay and is again provided in the room rate. Extraordinary good value compared to other hotels in New Haven.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the road and houses if possible as there was some noise in the night.

Unfortunately we've stayed here a few times because nothing else was available. The nearby Hampton Inn in West Haven is a much better choice because the customer service by all staff is consistently top notch, the linens are cleaned for each guest and the food is decent.

A word to the front desk - SMILE! Most of the desk staff look like they are ready to do combat instead of being warm and welcoming. We called to book our reservation and the staff member was rude and seemed not to care if we stayed with them or not. With this economy and competition it would make sense to provide exceptional service so guest would want to return.

The linens in our room were not clean. One set of towels had lipstick on it. The pillows and comforter smelled like the last guests sweat. The sheets and pillow cases are too thin. I could see a hair underneath the pillow case. Not sure if it was from a past guest or the housekeeper.

I concur with other reviews; the carpet is dirty, the bathrooms are grimy and the couches should be replaced.

The food at this hotel is lacking. The host is very nice and takes pride in her work. It is painfully obvious the hotel doesn't put a lot of money in their food budget. One night they served what looked like alpo and a roll. They should get an intern from a nearby culinary school to help train them to do more with less money.

Tip ask for a room in the front of the property if sun light is important. The first floor rooms will be darker because of the exterior stairs that lead to the second floor.

Some of the rooms are decent here but bring flip flops to walk around in the room and a can of lysol to spray down the bathroom and furniture. This hotel needs upgrade its rooms and send its staff to hospitality customer service training.

Room Tip: Rooms in front offer more light. Bring your own pillow and blanket
