“One amazing place”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

On the several times a year when my life takes me to the great city of New Haven, the highlight is my time at the Study. The staff is great and welcoming, the rooms are just what I'm looking for (comfortable, quiet, clean...my main requirements), and the atmosphere is truly amazing. The neighborhood is wonderful (when it's not in the middle of a snowstorm...but, even then, it can be fun) and it's right in the middle of many places to eat. Overall, this is one amazing place.

Room Tip: The street side is noisier than the 'back', but I prefer to see the world from the 'fron...

Blows my mind that any hotel can call itself a luxury hotel with only a shower and no bath tub! Ridiculous. Only room with a tub is presidential suite!!! and it is a new hotel - what were they thinking??

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, but wish I could have stayed longer.

The hotel is in the middle of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The lobby is very nicely appointed. The rooms are somewhat narrow, but very nice with a modern design. All of the standard stuff you expect in a hotel. WiFi is FREE and very fast. The staff was extremely nice and courteous.

A couple of downsides: the hotel restaurant is extremely expensive and although the food is good, it is not commensurate to the price paid. Hotel Parking is by valet only, so that means that it is not cheap. There are no apparent parking garages nearby. The exercise room is vey small with only 1 treadmill and 3 other exercide.

Overall, awesome hotel.

This past weekend, my husband and I were blessed with the gift of an extremely rare night away from our 2 ½ year old twins. The world was our oyster… where to go? What to do? We needed to cram in a year of relaxation and fun into less than 24 hours. So, I hit Tripadvisor, and decided to check out New Haven, which is only 20 minutes away from home. When I stumbled upon The Study and saw the reviews, it seemed like a really great deal – so, we booked it. Well… it was WAY more than a really great deal. From the time we pulled up to the hotel, I knew it was just the place that would recharge our really worn-down batteries. Crisp, clean, comfortable and with enough cool hipster vibe to make us feel like we were at a smaller W type of hotel. The room was perfect, and we had a gorgeous view of the Yale campus, with its historic architecture. But, the absolute best part of our stay was the Heirloom restaurant and bar. Ed, our bartender, made our entire evening tremendous fun. Ask him to sing 80’s music for you – he’s terrific. The food was positively fantastic, and even the music playing was just… perfect. This gem of a hotel and restaurant will now forever be known as “our place” – and we will be back as soon as someone else takes pity on us and babysits the tots overnight again. Thank you to all who made our mini vacation so special.

Room Tip: Ask for room 617 - the view of the Yale campus is something to see. Also, make sure you make a reser...

We were meeting with family and friends in New Haven near Yale. The Omni is nice -- stayed there before -- but The Study is more "Yale" and boutique-ish. Our standard room was very comfortable: bed was fantastic and cozy, bathroom/shower was contemporary and appeared new -- the theme of the hotel is bookish to go with its Yale location. It's a mix of contemporary chic with Ivy League study. The room was a comfortable hotel room/study with leather chair for reading and a desk study area. No hassles at all with internet. We spent the early evening at the bar -- very nice! A better-than-I-expected wine list with wine-knowledgeable bar tenders, some really great appetizers and comfortable setting for meeting friends. We met friends for dinner away from the hotel, but came back for drinks again late in the evening. We were a bit hungry again and were told the kitchen was closed, but the bartender winked and thought he could get us something -- and did! A very nice and comfortable setting. Needed some eye-opening coffee in the early morning -- went down to their "mini-cafe/bakery" and was surprised when the attendant behind the counter handed me a great cup of Italian roast "on the house" he said. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The room was very comfortable, not overdone. It had a sophisticated modern design and got a lot of natural light. The amenities - from bedding to shower products - were all top notch. We had breakfast at the Heirloom restaurant and the food was really good. The overall vibe of the hotel is cool and welcoming. It feels like an oasis in New Haven. Needless to say, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to stay in the area. You won't be disappointed.

It was love at first sight with the reading glasses on the stairs at the entrance. The service was excellent, nothing big or small overlooked. Even when I asked for a "very bad flat pillow that they would normally be too embarrassed to show a guest" due to a neck operation, housekeeping was on my doorstep within minutes with arms full of pillows to choose from. The room service lady bringing extra boiling water along with the tea, the reading room in the foyer, the bright large room with a desk along the entire length of the window.....all little things making the stay memorable.

Room Tip: My room had a natural autumn leaf curtain so I awakened with sunlight filtering through the leaves e...
