i am not sure whats the difference between an econolodge and and Omni, maybe its the location the place is in, which in New Haven is qúite good and you can walk to Yale in 10 minutes.

Otherwise, its abit more plush rooms, but again, nothing remarkable to justify a 100% markup!

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights when we didn't have power at home because of the storm. It turned into a minivaction! I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the updating they did in the rooms. We had a corner room on the 10th floor and it was very quiet even though the hotel was sold out. Comfortable beds, free wifi, fitness center, and nice restaurant, make this a good place to go for a weekend getaway. The location in the heart of downtown New Haven is good too for exploring the nightlife.

Thank you for allowing us to be your home away from home after Hurricane Sandy. It was our pleasure to provide you with a comfortable place to stay until you power returned and we appreciate your kind words on TripAdvisor.

My family and I just spent five nights at the Omni Hotel New Haven after we lost power and water do to Superstorm Sandy. The staff made us so comfortable and treated the kids so nicely. I will never forget the kindness. The room was not huge, but well-appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is excellent. But, it is really the staff that makes this hotel nice. Every single person we encountered was wonderful at thus very well run hotel. It may not be the hippest place I've ever stayed, but it is certainly the friendliest.

My husband and I stayed one night here with our 4 children and I have stayed before on my own as well. I love everything about this hotel. The location is superb for New Haven/Yale, restaurants, campus, art gallery and theatres. The attending staff are amazingly friendly and attentive, making even our children feel like important clientele, they received welcome packs upon check-in and then cookies and milk in the adjoining rooms we had booked. The rooms are well-stocked with toiletries, robes and such. Decor is on point, if a little worn, but not tacky. I would describe it as executive-casual, with collegiate touches. The showers have great water pressure. And even after our check-in, staff were calling and circulating to be sure that we had all that we needed, including complimentary water bottles.
We will stay here again and certainly seek out other Omni properties when we travel elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you cannot get a suite, adjoining rooms here work very well for families with children, just mean...

My wife and I have stayed at the Omni at Yale a number of times now and I have to say it is the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. The valet, front desk and staff all make you feel as if they are very glad and happy to see you, not in a fake way but in a genuine one. They go out of their way to help you in any way, offering advise, giving you umbrellas, whatever it takes. We give our hats off to the GM for instilling such a spirit in the staff.

Back at the Omni after a gap of three years to take advantage of having Yale on its doorstep. Very friendly welcome from the valet parking team and front desk.

Refurbished rooms have good beds and nice furnishings. Loyalty members get some nice touches like a free cuppa brought to the room in the morning, newspaper etc. Decent array of toiletries in the bathroom and big bars of soap. But then you'd expect all this for the room rate.

I was working down the road and had an early start. Checked the time for breakfast in that book of services thing you always find in every hotel room - 6:30am, perfect! Arrived at the 19th floor at 6:30am Monday morning to find nothing hot on offer.... Seems that time only applies to the cold spread and the scramble eggs and bacon doesn't get put out till 7.00am. Left hand-right hand problem.

To be fair, the waitress did offer to get the kitchen to rustle something up, but by the time it was sorted the hot items were being put out anyway. Apart from this little kindness, I found the staff on duty at breakfast a bit glum, in contrast to the cheery greeting every time I stuck my nose outside the front door to collect the car.

The front desk team were very helpful in providing advice on what to do and where to go to my wife who spent a couple of days exploring the town.

Overall the Omni is a great base and I would happily stay there again if travelling as a couple. But at these rates, it's Hyatt Place for me when I'm travelling alone.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

Thank you for returning to the Omni New Haven. We apologize that there was a disconnect between the information in the room and what you experienced in the restaurant. We will work with the restaurant manager to make sure that we have accurate information throughout the hotel. We are glad you had an otherwise good stay and we look forward to having your family stay with us again soon.

Just had the pleasure of staying at the Omni Hotel in New Haven for 5 nights. I enjoyed the stay, found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and well appointed, of good size. Bed was comfortable, very little noise despite being near the elevator. I was on the 17th floor so that may have helped. The bar / restaurant on the 19th floor was nice, only had breakfast which I enjoyed. The lady running the bar was friendly and again helpful. All in all a very nice Hotel and I would recommend to family and friends, I would certainly stay here again if in the New Haven area.
