I visited the Peabody Museum in August, it was a good experience. The Museum is located just outside of Downtown New Haven, on the corner of Sachem Street and Whitney Avenue. There is parking available next to the museum at the intersection of Humphrey and Whitney. Admission is $9 for adults and $5 for kids. The Museum has Three Levels. On the main level there is the Dinosaur Exhibit, which is very impressive. The Peabody has a many good example of dinosaur fossils, as well as, other prehistoric creatures. Main level also has a interesting exhibit dedicated to Native Americans, that display culture, music, cloths, etc. On the second level is the Discovery room. Its an interactive hall that feature poison frogs, ants, snakes, etc. It is encourage to touch and ask questions. In the third level you can find exhibits of North America, geology, Ancient Egypt, and Connecticut. I especially liked the Birds of CT Exhibit, hundreds of birds are in display (birds are stuffed, not alive). There is a gift shop that has interesting things to buy. Overall the Peabody Museum is a great experience for elementary kids, science buffs, and historians. You can see everything in two to three hours. So when visiting the Elm City, and the little ones are with you, pass by the Peabody its worth the visit.

Packed full of incredible exhibits and activities! The Peabody may not be as big as some other museums, but it is full of discoveries around every corner! We have had many happy visits here. Our two most recent visits stand out... We invited relatives from out of town to meet us at the Peabody so the kids could have fun while we got to spend time catching up. The littles loved seeing the ants and the dinosaurs. But for them the highlights were the dioramas and the Egyptian tomb. But we had the hardest time dragging them away from feeding the live ants and holding the fossilized "dino poop"! Even more exciting to my youngest was the opportunity to view items not on current display. We contacted the Peabody to ask about fossils and information related to a school project on dinosaurs. We were invited down into the stacks for a private tour and a chance to see fossils from her chosen dino! She was over the moon excited and can't wait for another opportunity like that! The Peabody is truly a place of learning and discovery and is staffed by wonderful people who are only too happy to share their world with the rest of us!

Taking our preschool grandkids to the Peabody was a blast. Located just north of the Green, on Whitney Avenue, it was accessible and had a parking lot adjacent. Our out-of-state grandkids smiled and were bright-eyed throughout most of the exhibits, not just huge dinosaurs that first excited their interest. I took dozens of pix of the displays, not just of the kids. There were numerous hand-on opportunities and docents around to answer questions. We 4 adults enjoyed the Peabody and would consider return without kids to enable us to read more of the plaques and learn more from the staff. Don't miss the Peabody!

We are lucky to have a place like this in New Haven . Yale's excessive wealth and history has resulted in a collection amazing for its size. The dinosaurs are especially impressive. Its not huge but if go to it with reasonable expectations you will be very happy
