East Side is total kitsch and you know that going in, but it's still lots of fun. Accordion-playing, Tyrolean-clad entertainers regularly lead the entire packed dining room in beer chugging with a series of toasts and chants, while buxom waitresses paddle errant guests on their backsides with ornate, wooden paddles. The food is decent enough, though pricey, and the beer is great. Everyone has a great time at East Side and you will too!

German food served family style. Dinner is not just dinner....it includes accordion music, costumed musicians and fun.

My wife sprung a surprise birthday party on me at East Side. We had a large group of 28, and there were numerous other celebrations around us in the dining room which created a raucous, happy atmosphere. The staff made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and the service was very good. I enjoyed the meal (I had the Jaeger Schnitzel was very similar to what I have had in Germany -- schnitzel in Germany, at least in the north, is always pork, not veal) and they had a good selection of German beers.

Looking for a lively spot to celebrate a family member's special day? Head to the East Side, a German restaurant, complete with an open-air beer garden on the roof, silly hats for celebrants, and a strolling accordion player wearing lederhosen. Children are welcome at East Side and will have fun joining in when everyone is shouting, "Ticki tocki, ticki tocki, hoy, hoy hoy"! as a huge stein of beer is served to a thirsty patron. Full course dinners include a small appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert. You'll probably ask for a container to take left-overs home. There is also a childrens menu. This is the place for potato pancakes! Yummy potatoes au gratin are also served on the weekends. The East Side recently introduced a Sunday brunch which we have tried once. Once was enough, as this idea needs work, both in presentation and selection! The "buffet" reminded me of an after funeral gathering at my grandma's house. The foods featured appeared to have no theme and were tepidly displayed on dinner places with what appeared to be soup spoons as serving utensils, and included deviled eggs, pasta salad, German potato salad, chopped liver, applesauce, slaw, cubes of cheese, broken up soft pretzels, and a bit of cut up fruit. The brunch entrees are limited and are served to you. No drinks are included in the buffet, so expect to pay $7.50 for a Bloody Mary, served in a small goblet, garnished with a lemon wedge. If you do go at noon on Sunday, stick to the regular menu! If you are a fan of duck, it's pretty darn good here!

We have visited East Side many times-this last one was a bit disappointing. Seems the restaurant be catering to the "bar scene" now. Perhaps it was because it was Saturday night. I had the pot roast and it was tough! Luckily the potato pancakes and veggies were good. Our other guests meals were good-they ate every bite. Service was lacking attention-had to ask several times for soda-food took about 45 minutes to get to our table.

if we return, it won't be on a busy night.
