“Not authentic”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

With a Groupon in hand we decided to dine at this restaurant on a Thursday evening at around 6:30PM. Parking is limited to the street and with is a popular supermarket located nearby, we ended up circling the area a few times before securing a spot a few blocks away. The restaurant is small, informal and very clean including the (singular) bathroom. Most of the glass topped tables were occupied which is always a good sign. I took advantage of their BYOB (no corkage fee) policy to bring in a bottle of wine and was provided with glasses and a cork screw. We were not overly hungry so we opted to share 2 stir fry dishes – spicy eggplant with shrimp and crispy chicken, the latter listed as a house special. Neither dish had the light, fresh, complex flavors I associate with the best in Thai cooking. The crispy chicken was hardly authentic, reminiscent of General Tso's chicken, while the spicy eggplant's special sauce was on the oily side. Service throughout our meal was very good and the personable owner visited our table twice to chat. Though this is the best (and only) Thai restaurant in New Britain, in the future I will be going the extra mile(s) in search of more authentic cuisine.

“Overrated by prior TA patrons”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

The only way anyone could rate this as excellent is if they never ate great Thai at the Thai Palace in Bloomfield. I came here with a Groupon coupon that they did not accept because we were there for lunch. We ordered two soups and two entrees that for lunch were highly overpriced. One soup was $5.96 and the other $4.95. The size of the portion was more like a cup than a bowl. The shrimp Pad Tai was a decent portion but at $10 it reflected what one would pay for a dinner in Bloomfield. The Thai Ginger Chicken was an extremely small portion, cost $8.00 and the chicken was tough. The service was fine and the bill came to $30. They told us we could not use a credit card since the bill was under $35. We had no leftovers to take home since there was not much food. I will try to return my groupon since we do not plan to return to this restaurant. The Thai Palace serves a lunch for $8 that includes appetizer, bowl of soup and entree. Compared to the Thai Palace this place shouldn't still be in business.

“GREAT dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013 via mobile

My partner and I dined here last night per Trip Advisor & Yelp recommendations. We shared the fresh rolls and crispy duck, both dishes were extremely good. This place is BYOB, so we brought a nice bottle of white wine to enjoy with our dinner. The restaurant is cozy and the service exceptional. We accidentally left our to-go container on the table as we left, but the waitress was thoughtful enough to set it aside and we ran back for the container minutes later. We are staying in central CT for a week and will likely hit this place again before heading home.

“Tasty Thai.”

We had wonderful pad thai and chicken with basil. The restaurant is clean and comfortable but plain. If you love Thai, this is a great place to go. The good is very affordable and delicious.

“Very Good Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

The food here was really great. We got the duck in red curry sauce, the pad thai w/chicken, drunken noodle w/seafood (shrimp & scallops), and salmon with mango (in a red curry sauce). All tasted really great and were not too heavy. We had the fried banana with coconut ice cream for dessert - this was very good and it's big, we split it among 6 people. The service was nice and attentive. I would highly recommend this place if you happen to be in New Britain.
