Hyatt Place in general is one of my favorite chains. They're very spacious rooms at a reasonable price. I love that you can rent movies in the room that are still in the movie theater even they're wicked expensive. The staff is very nice, continental breakfast is decent, but over incredibly early. There's a refrigerator in the room and a sink, but there's a shared microwave in the guest kitchen in the lobby. The gym is functional with 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a stationary bike. You can borrow a yoga mat and hand weights at the desk, but it's pretty sparse as far as fitness goes. The pool is outside, which stinks because we went on a cooler week and even though it's heated, 84 degrees when it's only 79 outside is not a super fun swim. I wish the pool was indoors. Also the king beds (or queen because they look small) were pretty uncomfortable. I was in a double bed room so I didn't have as much of a problem but I'm always in pain anyway so I wouldn't have noticed too much if they were worse than the others.

All in all, I'll come back here if I can't find someplace with an indoor pool. It's a good chain and this one definitely sees wear and tear because of the location but it's still decent.

Found the hotel website while searching for hotels in the Mystic area and was pleasantly surprised. After our stay here, we booked a night at another Hyatt Place because we were so pleased. Rooms are very large, clean, and bedding is very comfortable. Nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. Front desk staff were awesome. They were so welcoming and pleasant. Failed to get her name, but on the morning of our second night's stay, I broke my eyeglasses and the clerk helped me in locating an optometrist's office that could repair them, she even got directions for me....above and beyond as far as I am concerned. Only con is the breakfast, it was just so-so, stick with the cereal and fruit. On the second morning, we decided to go out for breakfast so we would not have to deal with the rude people in the breakfast area (rude guests, not staff).

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor, and it was very comfortable and quiet.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Mystic (July 26-27-28). The hotel is quaint. They have free hot breakfast (more so a kitchen where you can help yourself to pancakes, bagels, toast, oatmeal, fruit). The staff was wonderful from the front desk, to the pool attendant. The pool is a little small but clean and was just the right size for us since we have small kids. The Mystic Aquarium is within walking distance from the hotel. The Seaport is just a short drive from the hotel (5 minutes). I would stay here again. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfy, the rooms were spacious (especially with kids), they had almost a second room next to the bedroom which was the size of a living room...Clean, clean, clean. They actually allow pets at this hotel which I found odd, however it appeared that this area was a big pet lover population. In regards to the pets, we heard a dog muffle a bark and that was it. Never noticed anything else. Great, Great place for a mini vacation.

Room Tip: We had the first floor which was good, because of the kids we were close to the pool and the kitchen...

We chose this hotel because it had space available and we were a last minute booking. We arrived early, and were not able to check in, but our hostess Jamie, took all of our information, gave us a tour, and recommended places for lunch. When we came back at the appointed hour, we were delighted with our room -- spacious with a sitting area, huge flat screen TV, desk, refrigerator and wet bar. The desk staff was full of good advice as to how to best spend our one day in town. Internet connection was easy and fast. After a driving vacation full of mediocre motels, this was just what we needed for our last night on the road!

Pros: centrally located in Mystic, large tastfully appointed rooms with with living room area and fridge , large screen TV, free Starbucks in lobby, including espresso and lattes. Cons: small outdoor pool with lots of kids, breakfast ends at 9am so don't go after 8 because it was so crowded and messy with lots of kids who apparently don't have any manners or weren't supervised. The windows in the room don't open and the room a/c cycles on and off a lot.

Hints: walk up the block to Friendly's or the diner for breakfast.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the 1st floor if you want any quiet time.

Hotel was average, clean, people at front very busy, but did greet us.We always look for breakfast to be included so we can relax and not have to rush out in the mornings. Our issue was the breakfast set up!! First the time, 6:30-9:00, and weekends till 10:00, made everyone sleep in till the last minute, lots of children included, and a mad dash to wait in lines for food. We had no place to sit, as the families had spread out over the few areas to eat.We arrived at 8:00, and many things were gone, the area was a disaster!!! The set-up was not user friendly at all, dishes and plates, cups, etc. overhead on shelves where the food was, people reaching over you, having to keep cutting in lines!!!!Not clean at all!!!! Next morning we went out for breakfast, not very pleased!!!! The extra 4 dollar charge to watch a movie was not very nice on top of 16.99 for it to begin with.We will not be back.Did I mention the messy sitting area, disaster!!!!Children over took the whole area, what a mess! Next day passing through, same deal going on, we couldn't wait to leave!!!!

I stayed at the Hyatt Place for two nights with my husband and 9 month old son. The hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to the aquarium and olde mystic village. The guest room is very large and my son had a ball crawling all around. They provided us with a pack and play for him to sleep in at no extra charge. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the staff is friendly and willing to accommodate all requests. I needed dish soap to wash bottles in the room and they gladly went into the kitchen to get me some. The pool is small, but lovely. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return to this hotel.
