“Just "fine" hotel”
Reviewed March 6, 2007

I used this hotel for my wedding party, as I had my wedding reception across the street at the Mystic Aquarium this past September. For location and proximity to the Aquarium, this hotel can NOT be beat.

The facilities were nice, though I had booked a King Size Suite for my husband and I for our wedding night - the room was nearly twice as expensive as the Standard king rooms. We arrived to find the "Suite" to be nothing more than a slightly larger King size room - with a desk tucked into a weird extended corner. I would recommend NOT going for the suites here - the King rooms are plenty big and are well furnished.

We did a burnch at their bar facility the next morning and everything went quite smoothly and the food was good, if not a little expensive for what we got.

Very comfy beds though, with nice white comforters and tasteful room decorations. Great location, OK (somewhat cold) pool.

We stayed at the Hilton Mystic because we had bonus points to use from our credit card. I was excited because typically we stay at Hampton Inns, and thought staying at a high dollar hotel would be a welcome luxury.

I was wrong.

The room was ordinary, and the bathroom was tiny. The granite window sill and vanity top and fancy wallpaper did not make up for the poorly built structure. The windows, while closed, allowed cold air to come pouring into the room, as did the openings around the heater unit. We had to stuff towels into the holes below the unit and line the top of the unit and window sill with towels. Still, ice formed by morning. There was a large gap between the bottom of the door to the hall and the floor. Just poor workmanship all around.

There wasn't even a fridge or complimentary breakfast. I'm not exactly sure how they justify the price because you can get a better room that offers more at a cheaper hotel. And that's what we did.

The second night we changed hotels to a place that had a bedroom, living room, full kitchen, separate sink from the commode, indoor pool and jacuzzi, and complimentary breakfast that was CHEAPER than the Hilton.

Definitely skip this hotel. There's plenty of other choices in Mystic.

Absolutely everything RIGHT about this hotel. Front desk staff very nice, room clean and very comfortable, room service excellent. No noise...just a very nice hotel.

  • Liked — The bed - so comfortable!
  • Disliked — Parking - too far from entrance but still a minor thing.

Recently completed a somewhat disappointing 2 night stay at the Hilton Mystic. Over the years, I have stayed at quite a few Hilton Family properties and this one unfortunately should not be branded as a Hilton.
Room was comfortable and clean - bed was extremely comfortable and part of Hilton's newly upgraded beds.
Windows were poorly insulated, marble sill was ice cold in morning, despite windows being closed tightly.
Most troubling were the thin walls and loose doors. We could hear everything from the room and bathroom next door -- not just bathroom to bathroom but in the main room as well.
Room door had large gap underneath which made it next to impossible to make room dark for sleeping (although the bed bolster helped). Doors (at least on 2nd floor where we stayed) had no mechanism to dampen closure so all doors slammed shut with jarring noise. While we had reasonable neighbors on the hall who weren't slamming doors continuously through the night, this could be a problem for others.
Basic continental breakfast included as HH Gold benefit.
Overall, not entirely at the level I would expect of the Hilton brand.

Stayed for one night at Mystic Hilton with my husband. Spent the day at the casinos which are a short drive from Mystic. We loved our room-most comfortable bed we've ever had
in a hotel. The room had a large jacuzzi tub and soft robes. Everything was very clean. The buffet breakfast was very good. A bit pricey but would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night only, a Friday. I got a great rate on Priceline about ten days prior to our stay. The room was very comfortable, clean, and with great beds. The bellman was especially professional and attentive. He has obviously worked there for quite some time because he answered every question without hesitation and was clearly being sincere when he said to let him know if we needed anything. The building is older, but recently remodeled. The front desk staff were accommodating and pleasant. Our only complaints would be the internet speed and the small number of casino shuttle options. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will likely stay again in the future. It's an easy drive to Foxwoods, Mystic and Stonington.

My husband and I stayed at the Mystic Hilton 9/16 - 9/19/06. The location is right across the street from a gigantic shopping/restaurant complex with 60 small, quaint shops. It's lovely for a leisurely walk, browsing, shopping, and casual dining, with a duck pond and lots of areas to sit and relax. The hotel itself is your basic business hotel, with everything you'd expect in the room and in the hotel. They have a buffet breakfast every day, a full service restaurant, a lively bar in the lobby, etc. There are buses that pick you up right in front to take you to the casinos, if that's your thing. It is also right across the street from the aquarium, which is lovely. It's not really walking distance to the historic downtown section of Mystic (where you'll find the famous Mystic Pizza), so you'll have to drive there. The pizza is yummy and there are lots of shops and restaurants down there to walk around as well. Overall, I would stay here again!

  • Liked — The location is great for people who like things in walking distance
  • Disliked — Not a gorgeous, new, upscale resort; just a basic mid-range Hilton with everything you'd expect.
  • Tips/Secrets — The Marriott Mystic is newer, more upscale, prettier, but there's nothing in walking distance, so I prefer the Hilton for that reason.
