We had dinner last night in the recently opened Engine Room. They did a fabulous design job on the space. It is casual, warm and sophisticated. It feels like a city restaurant, not the typical shoreline eatery. For a restaurant that only opened three months ago, they really have their act together.
The menu was interesting and eclectic. We had delicious humus & pita and calamari for appetizers followed by a substantial and flavorful turkey burger. This is not the frozen patty type of burger place!
I substituted a salad for the fries & loved the salad dressing. It had a unique flavor. My husband had the fries and said they were very good. Engine Room is a farm to table establishment and that comes through loud and clear in the interesting flavors.
They have a large bar area with comfortable seating and a large variety of beer on tap as well as bourbon.
We ate in the restaurant section which overlooks the kitchen. Real foodies can sit watching the meal preparation. Surprisingly there is little noise from the packed bar area although it is right around the corner. Engine Room is a very neat place.

Did not have a reservation and waited 20 minutes for a seat at the bar facing the kitchen. It was fun watching the staff preparing the various dishes. Though the menu is limited and fries were very salty, the variety in bourbons and beers more than made up for it! Server offered us a taste of popcorn, which was fantastic.

A $12 burger is pretty much the size of a slider. It's served w a heaping mound of hand cut french fries. They have so much salt on them that you could retain a few gallons of water after eating them. Falafel sandwich was tasty but served with dill pickles, carrots and peppers in the sandwich itself. Also served with mustard on the bun. Very odd combo for falafel. Beer was tasty though. Very average food. Not impressed

Stopped in for first time on a Monday, just in time for happy hour. Good service, friendly staff, Victor gave my husband several tastes of different beers on tap. I had the turkey burger and fries. It was excellent! Loved the spicy sauce and the fries were really hot!! An added bonus was their house made pickle! Husband enjoyed his burger, but thought the seasonings and sauce overwhelmed the taste of the top quality beef. The prices are a bit high, but reflect the quality of the food. Really loved the decor, would like to try more items on their menu.

Nice atmosphere , yet noisy on a Saturday night at 6. Very limited menu. Entrees served with French fries and no substitutes. Tough to find a dish that was vegetarian without being fried or on a heavy roll. Wonderful desserts. Limited wine selection, but great on beer selection. Service was good, but not the best.
