“Wonderful Getaway!”
Reviewed July 24, 2005

My husband and I spent the weekend at this bed & breakfast. It was two blocks from the cute little main street shopping area with all the stores, restaurants, and the drawbridge so we walked the entire time. When we arrived, the inn smelled delicious and they served us amazing fresh baked cookies. We had the blue room upstairs. It was roomy and quaint with LOTS of character. The bathroom has murals painted of ...you guessed it... mermaids. The bed was fine and there was a stocked fridge in the room with no charge. Breakfast was incredible both mornings -- several courses. One morning we had eggs benedict with crab and another morning we had omelettes. They also served us homemade granola that was amazing and we ate way too much. This Inn really made our little Mystic weekend getaway a true treat.

If you are looking for the perfect getaway in Mystic, CT that is convenient to the train, I95, the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, and even Foxwoods, look no further than the Mermaid Inn of Mystic. Set in a historic house, this Inn features impeccably kept bedrooms with all new bathrooms that are decorated with hand-painted murals by a local artist. One room is more charming than the other. Warm, home-baked cookies delight in the afternoon, and a stupendous 3-course hot breakfast awaits you as you rise -- fresh juice, coffee, home-made granola with yogurt, baked apples with pecans, French toast with peaches or blueberries, and bacon. What a meal! And the Inn keepers are warm and friendly but never intrusive. You'll leave with a tiny bag filled with fresh fruit, cookies, granola, and bottled water for your trip home -- a wonderfully nurturing touch that will make you want to turn around and stay longer. This Inn is excellent and I cannot wait to go back.
