“Outdoor Dining Near Seaport”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

We visited Mystic Seaport last Sunday (Sept 9) which turned into a beautiful sunny day. We wanted a convenient place to eat, but nicer than the restaurants inside the Seaport itself. Simply exit the northern end of the Seaport and you arrive at Latitude 41 Restaurant - very convenient.

We sat outside and while the tables are not right on the water you have a nice view of the water and harbor. This is a bit of an upscale restaurant, but lunch was fairly reasonable. Two of us had the Market Salad with spiced walnuts, cranberries, goat cheese for $9. You could add chicken, shrimp or salmon for an additional fee. Salads were huge and neither of us could finish.

The guys each ordered the Shipyard Mussels, which were again large servings for $12. The dinners were more than we usually like to spend, but we'd like to try their Happy Hour. We did not go inside the restaurant or tavern, so can't comment on those. There was a wedding reception while we were there and it was a beautiful place for that. Latitude 41 was the perfect way to end our wonderful weekend in Mystic.

“Good food, no waterfront.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Thursday night to avoid any weekend rush. We went because it was listed as fine dining on the waterfront. We did not see any waterfront. Our table was a window seat overlooking the street. The food was excellent - I had grilled scallops over risotto and they were prepared beautifully. I do agree with a previous reviewer that the staff presented themselves as pub servers. Service was slow also, even though we were the first people in the dining room. I don't think they expected customers on a Thursday night. They were too busy with several private parties in other parts of the establishment

“Has Potential”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

I made a reservation to eat here after looking at the menu and planning my Mystic, CT trip. There really was no need to make a reservation as there was NO ONE in the dining area, however, it was happening in the bar. Instead of eating alone in their dining section, we opted to eat with everyone else at the bar. Like the reviews I read, the staff is completely inattentive. They took forever to do everything! Literally, we got to the restaurant with about 20 minutes to spare for their happy hour, and I had to go up to the bar to order our drinks with less than 5 minutes left before it ended because no one came to ask if we wanted a drink. This restaurants saving grace is the food. It was really good!

“Higher-end dining room, with lower-end service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

A photo of the dining area had us thinking this was a super-cool location for dinner. Indeed, the design, the tables, and their set-up were interesting, and the prices ok ($17-24 for most entrees, higher for steaks). But the servers were dressed as if they worked in the nearby pub, and we found them wanting. A 30-minute wait between seating and the arrival of our drinks did not make us happy, especially since we were seated at a later (and therefore, unbusy) hour. Ceaser salad was great. Dinner portions were ample, the food a bit salty, and again, the service was only mediocre during the dining. Also, parking is diagonally across the street in a large lot, but there was no signage or other indication of where to go.

“Good Happy Hour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

We went on a Friday for Happy Hour. They have $4 beers and small plates. Get the spring roll - SO GOOD. Our waitress was really fun. They ended up getting a wedding party in there a bit after we showed up, so try to get there early, just in case.
