Speedy and courteous staff, but food just misses the mark from very good. Needs a good chef's touch to up the notch a bit.

“Big Disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2010

While we are Mystic residents and try to support the local business, the Equinox has just disappointed us too many times.

Have been here 5 times, 4 for breakfast and while there portions are really large, from the blueberry pancakes, to the oversize omelettes etc, the quality has been mediocre at best and the service abysmal.

It could have been a star as it's right off the highway in the old Howard Johnson's building and while it has large diner space, it disappointed us every time we went and we just stopped going.

“Best breakfast in the area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2010

Have been going there for about 6 months and just want everyone to know that it is are favorite place for breakfast. Try the light heart omellete and the reeses pancakes. Also, if your up for it try the tex mex omellette but only if you want to sit on your couch the rest of the day. For all the travelers coming to Mystic it is the cleanest restaurant in town by far.

“Great place, great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2010

I went here with a bunch of girls after spending the day in mystic. At first, I noticed how great an atmosphere the place had... it was instantly welcoming and had a great vibe. The service was also a huge plus - everyone was friendly, helpful, and immediately accomodating. However, the food is what I'm here to rave about.... every single meal came out perfectly and we had no complaints (and we were a huge group!). The salads.. entrees.. soups... and even fresh baked desserts were all fabulous. I will definitely be here again soon!

“So bad it was comical”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2010

We tried the diner tonight for dinner while on vacation. What an experience. We actually wondered if we were on candid camera. They made us wait for a table to be cleaned while half the dining room was empty and ended up seating us at an empty table anyway. The waitress took forever to bring a soda I had ordered with our meal order. My caesar salad came out with powdered parmesan cheese and literally no dressing. The waitress offered to bring me some and asked if i wanted an extra bowl to toss it in...what? toss the salad myself at the table? I declined and just poured the very salty dressing on myself. We risked ordering dessert and asked for a scoop of blueberry ice cream with whipped cream. They were out of blueberry which is no big deal, but my second choice came and magically she forgot the whipped cream, but managed to add a piece of hair about 9 inches long just hanging all over the top of it. Through everything the waitress just maintained this creepy maniacal smile like nothing was wrong. The whole dinner took an hour... at a diner, thats a pretty long time. And $2.50 for a soda!! what the heck. As the subject line says, after awhile it just became comical. Just go to Friendly's instead.
