“The most practical restaurant on the Seaport grounds”

I have eaten at The Galley at both my visits to Mystic Seaport. Out of the four restaurants on the Seaport grounds it is both the cheapest and the easiest to squeeze into an activity-packed day. The food is a combination of your typical museum faire (burgers, chicken fingers, etc.) and quick seafood dishes such as fish and chips and lobster rolls. The service is very fast even when the Seaport is very busy. Quality-wise, the food is slightly better than what you usually find at museum cafeterias. I recommend it since it's the fastest of the four options, as Mystic Seaport has a ton to see to the point where it's difficult to do everything in one day. However, just because it's the fastest doesn't mean it's low-quality.

There were only 2 places really to have a proper sit-down meal at the Seaport so we opted for here.

Quick service despite being the height of the lunch service. It's mainly fast food and fried stuff and seafood abounds. Tons of seating inside and out. Some of the tables were dirty and plates had not been cleared. We ended up wiping our table down as it was wet and had crumbs.

The one thing we noticed is that the lady cashing was also the one having to go over to the dessert area to serve ice cream which was a bummer for folks waiting for their sweet treats as they had to wait a while for her to be free to serve them. They really should have someone working the ice cream counter all the time.

We had fried shrimp which was okay but just rather bland. Not impressed with the food here really but it filled a hole during a long day out at the Seaport.

We were hungry after walking around Mystic Seaport nearly 3 hours. Stopped in at the Galley. We both ordered the clam strip meal. Arrived quickly and was really quite good. I would eat here again. It's cafeteria style. You order and later pick up food. Condiments are located in several areas. Would eat here again.
