Description: Oyster Club is a casual fine dining restaurant and raw bar specializing in the richness of the New England coast and countryside. The menu, which is written daily, showcases food that travels the shortest distance from 'farm & sea to table,' with seasonality and location determining the day's delicacies. Benefiting from the region's many local farmers and fisherman, Oyster Club features bounty from the sea, pasture raised beef, local produce and artisanal cheeses. We believe Oyster Club is an extension of your home and that all will feel welcome at our table - please join us!

If you want great food there is no other place to go in SE CT. Chef James Wayman varies the menu every day depending on what is fresh and available.his cooking brings out the inner voice of the food he is cooking and unlike most of the other "fine dining" restaurants in the area, he does not add silly sauces that detract from the food he is making that day. Dessert chef, Melody Pere, isn't far behind James. Her brown butter almond is great that foodie friend went back there several times in one to eat three servings.
And the oysters and little necks are as fresh as I have ever had.
A great selection of beers. And the wine list now has a terrific selection of interesting and very good wines.
So that's the story. We go there all the time and really don't want to go anywhere else unless we are in the mood for pizza.

How any chef could turn a meal of chicken liver pate on small toasts and a buttermilk brined and deep-fried chicken thigh and leg into an incredible eating experience seems to me to be theoretically impossible. However when chef James Wayman is at the top of his game it seems like anything and everything is quite easily possible. Just as improbable is that dessert chef Melody Pere could create a sticky toffee pudding that equals her incredible almond brown butter cake: but she did.
As usual the service was attentive and helpful.
So there you have it: a great restaurant experience. This is a place where often a meal is less about food and more a vision into the essence of what food can be. Sort of like a look deep into Plato's cave. The best way to understand this odd analogy is to look it up on the internet using your favorite search engine. . Sorry for the reference; but this how it seems to me.

During Mystic's Restaurant Week we had lunch at this delightful establishment. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. A return trip at a future date is planned.

We went there for happy hour during and enjoyed the $1 oysters. The problem is when we were leaving and my husband made a mistake and we could see the owner whispering to the staff right in front of us. We will not return.

Different from the usual Mystic fare, and trendy.
A great spot to entertain and enjoy an eclectic array of seafood and exquisite non-traditional meals. A bit loud, but the vibe makes up for it. You'll be glad you gave it a try (and don't miss the raw oyster specials during Happy Hour!).
