“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This hotel is very centrally located. We love to walk and it was easy to get around, The room was very clean and pretty big. We were right off the main street but there was never any noise (except of course when the bridge went up). Although we never ate at the restaurant it seemed to be full both nights we were there. The breakfast was very good - they seemed to have thought of everything. The only issue we had was the breakfast room was not that large and some people were ignorant and sat there forever just sipping coffee and chatting while others were waiting to sit. Perhaps management can put a polite sign on the tables requesting that customers not linger too long if others seem to want to sit.
We had a great time and would definitely come back and highly recommend the Whaler's Inn.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Whaler’s Inn. I apologize that the breakfast room was busy at the time you arrived. The breakfast we provide is quite extensive and many of our guests do take advantage of this complimentary offering. If ever you need of anything, please feel comfortable to ask the desk or the breakfast room attendant. They would be happy to assist you. We certainly look forward to welcoming you back to the Inn!

This was a nice hotel right in the middle of Mystic, but it did not have a fridge or microwave in the room and the giant bathtub was hard to be in and out of (I did enjoy it while I was in it though).

we decided at the last minute to go overnight to mystic on labor day weekend. the whalers inn had one room left and we decided to take it. it was pricey, but beggars can't be choosers on a last minute thought.
I called and the arrangements were made. a very pleasant experience I must say. mary was great and was more than accommodating in helping me out with information and suggestions.
we arrived and checked in with no muss no fuss, just like the initial phone interaction.
our room (#71) was a corner room with great appointments. suggestion: small refrigerators in room and better ice machines.
these are vintage rooms so there is a great mix of old and updated convenience.
at first we couldn't find the tv, but soon found it tucked above the built in desk.
the room had great views of the downtown mystic area and the wonderful drawbridge....horns, beeps, and all.
the continental breakfast is great and there a chocolate chip cookies and coffee available most of the time. they have great whalers inn souvenirs available too.
the hotel is centrally located to the entire area and the downtown is very walkable from the hotel.
they have their own restaurant and there are lots of other options available within walking distance. shopping is also great in the area as well as walking down the wharf along the river.
the staff was great and very pleasant on all interaction.
one caveat we encountered on labor day weekend: the street noise/voices from the pub next door and whatever was happening was very loud until 2 a.m. on the sunday night we stayed.
this wasn't a deal breaker, but it was very, very noticeable even on the third floor.
in any case we would return for a stay.
note to whoever parked next to us in the black audi after dark: thanks for being so inconsiderate that I had to climb in on the passenger's side to back out in the morning.

Room Tip: There are different rooms available for families vs couples. There are no elevators in the Hoxie hou...

We stayed 2 nights here in a room with two small children. They gave us an outside room so we could sit outside when the kids had gone to bed. Sweets and cookies at reception and lots of advice. And a complementary breakfast which was a bonus.
Mystic is a lovely little town and this hotel had a great location right by the bridge which we watched go up and down many times.
Definitely recommend using the happy hour at the attached restaurant, bravo. We very happily and cheaply fed the kids on 5 dollar very above average bar snacks whilst enjoying half price local beer. And then ordered very delicious meal we enjoyed sitting outside the room a bit later.

We stayed here in our first trip to Mystic and enjoyed it. We stayed at the 1865 house where the rooms were decorated true to the era that the house was built. If you forget your shampoo or body wash don't worry there is a dispenser in shower or you can walk a couple of blocks to the cvs. There is breakfast in the morning with a few choices and the coffee is good. Staff is very friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have about the inn or the town. They also offer discounted tickets to the seaport museum and the aquarium. Inn is located just steps from all the restaurants, shops and the bridge. All in all I would stay here again. Only complaint is that they should provide you with coffee cup sleeves if you get the coffee to go.

The Whalers Inn is a lovely old building right in the heart of Mystic which itself is a beautiful town.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also ample parking on site.
Our room was excellent, plenty of space and nice leather sofa to relax on and watch TV or read. The bed was very comfortable so we slept well. The decor and furnishings were very nice and there was plenty of space for clothes. The bathroom was clean and shower was a good size. Our room was on the 3rd floor and on the corner of the building so we had a view of the bridge and the river. If you struggle to carry cases up stairs then ask for a room on the lower floors. The landings are wide and give character not found in modern featureless hotels that abound today, so if prefer a more tasteful gentle experience then look no further than the Whalers Inn.

I read about the Whaler Inn in Fodor's book about New England and it sounded like it may be a good choice. But you never know until you arrive at the property. This time it was A plus. The hotel was in a great location, the rooms were perfect and the staff the best. We also had a chance to dine at their restaurant called Bravo Bravo and it was simply great. I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to whomever travels to Mystic.
