We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip around New England. The hotel is in a lovely spot on the water and the rooms are beautiful. Due to it being so full, we changed rooms on the second night and I must say that both rooms were beautifully furnished, with seating areas where you can watch life on the water and very comfortable beds.
There is a continental breakfast included, which is very nice and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
The town itself is quite small, but very quaint and we decided to visit the aquarium because it has a really good Titanic exhibition, with a lot of input from Bob Ballard. Nearby Stonington is also pretty - even in the rain.
Try the S&P Oyster Company for really good seafood and head out of ton a mile or so to the fish market for excellent clam chowder.

We only had a night to escape from being parents. We took a chance on this property because we were at the New Haven train station late in the afternoon, on a rainy cold April Monday, with no where to go. They were very friendly and accommodating over the phone and we had our choice of rooms b/c they weren't full. This place is a gem! Downstairs rooms, right on a boardwalk overlooking the river, are HUGE and can hold a family of four easily. Upstairs rooms are cozier and have amazing views and working fireplaces and wonderful beds and other amenities. Plus generous breakfast included in a charming little breakfast room (way beyond continental ). I can't say enough. The hotel of our dreams.

This Inn was wonderful and met all of my expectations. My husband and I stayed only one night but I wish it could have been longer!
Upon check-in, we were escorted to our room (ARIADNE - Room 1) and given a tour and explanations of how to use the wood-burning fireplace, small flat-panel TV with DVD player and the double-size whirlpool bath. We were then led to the Common Room where they have teas, hot chocolate, bottled water and coffee as well as some games to play. There was also sherry and cookies available in the afternoon.
The queen bed was comfortable and the sheets were really soft. There were also 3 different types of pillows to choose from which was great as I am picky about pillows. Another plus was the shower – the pressure was great and the water was hot. There was also a hair dryer in the bathroom.
The Steamboat Inn is right on the Mystic River and located steps from Main Street where great shops and restaurants are all within walking distance.
Decent coffee was available in the Common Room at 7 AM. We didn't take advantage of the included continental breakfast so I can’t comment on that (but it looked tasty).
It was a quiet romantic get-away and I would most certainly return for another (hopefully extended!) stay in the future.

We booked this inn for a brief getaway for friends visiting New York from the UK. We thought it was great opporutunity to see what else the region had to offer - many people visit the city from the UK but few venture beyond it. We booked it after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The inn has a lovely ambiance and beautiful rooms, with real working fireplaces, which provided a delightful relaxing evening after a day of sightseeing. This along with the sherry and biscuits served by the friendly staff was a lovely touch. The inn was sheer joy and we are already planning a return trip. We would definitely recommend it to our friends visiting the region over the coming months.

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway, to go Christmas shopping and enjoy each other. It was just awesome. Diane, one of the inns keepers, was fantastic! Just a delight to stay there. Definitely for adults only. Very romantic. Very clean. You feel like it is a home away from home. We stayed here last year, this year and will be going back next December. I am very particular where I stay. This is one place that, without question, I would suggest to any couple. Especially if you are looking for alone time and to enjoy one another! Our trip was certainly a wonderful memory!

Stayed one night in the Mystic Room. Beautifully decorated, spacious and clean. The view of the river outside just beautiful. In the evening there was sherry and cookies in the common room and we took some back to our room. They also have tea and coffee available all day. Logs were set up in the fireplace and we lit a nice fire. They leave extra logs in the hallway to keep your fire going. Very romantic. The breakfast was very simple but that is what we like. At other B&B's we usually get sweet and sticky food and we don't eat it. The food here was very healthy. There was fruit, cereal, bagels, muffins, juice and coffee and they served until 10am. We parked our car and didn't really need to move it except to go to a concert at the Mohegan Sun (20 minutes away) Restaurants and shops are right in the walking area. We asked for a recommendation to a good Italian restaurant and they sent us to Bravo Bravo. It was so terribly overpriced and was just so so. Don't waste your money there. We split a salad and had a main meal each, no dessert or drinks and it came to over $80.00.
Due to the time of year, it was very quiet and that's what we like. Everyone at the Inn was very pleasant. Also because it is off season the rates are more reasonable. We will stay here again.
