“Lovely and romantic (again)!”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

My husband and I had stayed here when we got married in Mystic and enjoyed it so much we decided then we'd return for our 3rd anniversary. We stayed both times in Room 2. A beautiful room and fantastic views. It feels like home. We would never stay anywhere other than the Steamboat Inn. And the location can't be beat! We were there for the annual art show - what a blast! Some great, and not so great, art to enjoy. We can't wait for our next stay.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a beautiful view right now the Mystic River - and a side view of it as well!

We always enjoy our stay at the Steamboat Inn. It is one of our favorite places. Kudos many times over to the cleaning staff. I defy anyone to find dustballs in the corners or dirty bathroom floors. The rooms are immaculate - thank you.
I surely hope the owners never change over to gas fireplaces, as the inn would totally lose it's lovely, cozy, romantic charm. Thank you to all those who bring in the firewood for the guests. My husband and I certainly appreciate it.
The rooms are all different and regularly updated although I might suggest a few new pictures. Some pictures in some of the rooms are very badly faded and detract from the overall
appearance as well as an occasional chair or sofa that is also faded and needs reupholstering.

Not to ruin an otherwise good review, however.....We would love if the inn brewed a better pot of coffee. The coffee is ultra weak and has no flavor. We struggle to enjoy it but it doesn't make the cut. In the future I may actually bring my own Keurig coffee pot or send my husband out in the morning for a robust cup of coffee. Our morning coffee is very important to us and is part of our overall relaxing getaway. I don't ever remember the coffee being so weak and tasteless.

In summary, we love the inn and the people who work there. Kate is lovely and always open to suggestions and willing to help in any way possible. Our sincerest sympathies go to the inn staff on the recent passing of lovely Diana. She will be very hard to replace and will be missed greatly. A lovely, gracious lady.

p.s. Our particular pillows, bedding, linens etc. were exceptional -- heavenly-- and thank you once again for tending to all the details that make a weekend getaway extra special. J and M

We booked two nights at the inn. They accommodated our early check-in request and made us dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant when we arrived. Our room had a fireplace which we used twice a day-in the afternoon and upon our return from dinner. They stalk the wood and get the fire ready for you each day. The rooms were very nice, clean and well put together. Breakfast is included – buffet style but was very good. There is unlimited access to soda, tea, coffee, waters, etc. Each evening they put out cookies and sherry. Parking is included at the inn and you can walk to many places which we really enjoyed. The staff was very friendly. We can’t wait to return.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs have fireplaces in them! You can view each room on the website.

This place is amazing!! I love how the rooms are all decorated different, and comfortable bed, sheets, ect. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Mystic Room.
My only complaint is the work being done on the drawbridge woke us very early both mornings. Thursday morning the shined the spotlights over the river and it came into our room at 5am with machinery being started up along with it. This morning the lights and machinery started at 3am. We came for a relaxing, romantic time... and would have been more enjoyable had it been quieter.
It would have been nice to know that it was going to be that way....
The breakfast was beautiful with fresh pastries and fruit, along with hot items as well. They had cookies and sherry in the late afternoon, however we did not get a chance to try them out.
I would stay here again after the construction is done.

What an incredible place. Rooms are clean and very homey. They have all the bases covered from check in to check out. Inn keepers are gracious and always available. They offered cookies and sherry for guests. Area menus available and local restaurant deals for happy hours and dinner. Breakfast was amazing and the location is perfect to exploring mystic. We will absolutely recommend and return

Room Tip: Annie Wilcox overlooks the river and the bridge. Very peaceful with great fireplace

Room Tip: We looked at a couple of the other rooms, they all looked very comfortable had river views and some...

Husband and I stayed here Jan. 6 2013 for our 33rd anniversary. We stayed in the Kathleen room.. Upon entering there is a small sofa, on to the bedroom with a king size bed high off the ground, a double jacuzzi in a big bathroom. Aslo there is a sitting room with sofa, two chairs and tv., it looks out onto the Mystic river. The tv in the bedroom area is so small, my husband had to take it out of the dresser and put it on top just to see it from the bed. The room was spotlessly clean. There is a little kitchenette with fridge and micro and dishes. I might suggest to the inn they include bathrobes, and there are two rugs in the room that are like burlap, hurt my feet to walk on them. Also the pillows are like pancakes once you put your head on them. Included is a breakfast, we had choice of pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, granola, fruit. The location is walkable to many shops and restaurants. We dined at the Voodoo grill and it was awesome.Overall it was a nice stay.

Thank you for your review! I always appreciate guest feedback, it helps us to learn about each of our guest’s needs. We just recently did a renovation due to Storm Sandy and had to tile all of the downstairs rooms. Prior to the storm they were carpeted so I will look into the area rugs and the discomfort. We actually like to have our TV's enclosed in cabinets and unfortunately the cabinet in the bedroom will only allow for a smaller TV. As your husband found, for better viewing you are able to move it on top of the cabinet easily. The attached sitting room does have a much larger TV in it. Happy to hear overall you enjoyed your stay we look forward to seeing you in the future!
