“Excellent Stay”

Great hotel for our family of four and dog. Had a great stay, enjoyed the pool and attractions near by. The free breakfast was just what you need to start your day. The staff was excellent and answered all our questions. Won't be disappointed and would highly recommend.

Taking two rooms, we hosted Irish visitors overnight at this hotel so we could all visit Mystic Seaport, town and Village, and the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Museum. It's well-placed for traveling to these sites. The Queen rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and we received excellent service from reception. We came down to breakfast at the busiest time and there were no seats left in the lobby. The young woman on the front desk opened a meeting room for me so that we could have an enjoyable breakfast together with our guests. The breakfast itself is also quite good, with lots of choices and our favorite: the waffle machine: makes great waffles!

Room Tip: Based on an earlier trip, the king bed studio suite is especially spacious and comfortable.

I stayed here with my 2 daughters for two nights. The hotel room was very clean and we had a king suite which was nice and roomy. The pool area was adequate and the girls had a nice time swimming. The towels were tiny and terrible but I wasn't expecting much. The breakfast was very good. Waffles, coffee, juices, cereal, etc.. The location was very convenient. I would stay again. It is a great spot to explore Mystic from. Solid 4 star experience.

Room Tip: The suites are worth it with a microwave and a refrigerator.

We stayed here for 4 days, 3 nights, as a family with our two little ones. Upon entering the room we immediately begin "childproofing," (covering outlets, blocking head bumping areas, etc) but we were shocked to find a used band aid stuck to the wall, as well as chewing gum stuck right to the wall--in plain sight. The corners of the room were quite filthy as well. We dealt with this and moved on as we've stayed in numerous hotels and are completely aware that some hotels within a chain are just cleaner than others (we've always had favorable experiences at other Hampton Inns). This hotel is in an awesome location. The attitude of the staff was somewhat to be desired --any requests we made (ie. more towels) we felt as if it was a huge favor to ask (which again, we overlooked it, it was mildly annoying but not anything we haven't dealt with before on other trips). The incident that occurred that results in this review is one night upon arriving back at the hotel at 9:50, we receive a phone call at 10 pm inquiring if we hear any little ones running around on the floor above us. After informing them that we just walked into our room and haven't heard anything it dawned on us that they were referring to us--only one of our children can walk and literally was so tired from our activities of the day she walked to the bed and remained there as we unpacked pajamas etc. So we called back down to the desk and inquired if she was in fact referring to us and she (very nicely) informed us that she felt she handled it well, and that there was a noise complaint of hearing running around. Keep in mind it was running around, no screaming, or yelling, or crying, just footsteps. For some reason this hotel felt that complaint warranted a call to a couple with young children at 10 pm (which also woke our other toddler). So clearly if your children want to walk around in the room this hotel would not be a good choice. Our child is 30 lbs so to say the floors and walls are thin is an understatement. I also heard other guests walking around above us at various hours but was unaware that I could register this as a noise complaint and request that everyone stop walking. Although this hotel is in a great location we will be staying elsewhere on our return trip as we look back on our experience now we most certainly should have complained about the band aid and chewing gum on the wall, as well as a 10 pm phone call. If you must stay here please be sure to make your stay as pleasant as possible by requesting the service you deserve. We will still continue to stay at other Hampton Inns as I still believe they uphold a higher level of service, just not at this particular location.

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor so you won't hear anyone walking around above you!

Stayed here for a week on business and I wasn't disappointed at all. Very comfortable beds and clean rooms. It was convenient too because it was close to Mystic Village and surrounding attractions like Mystic Pizza, the Coast Guard Academy, and a short drive to the Mohegan and Foxwoods Casinos.

If you've read my other posts, you know I love breakfast, and this one was pretty good. Waffle-great!, sausage-OK. good selection of cereals. Juice dispenser was a little watery, but not bad. muffins and breads were good too.

Staff was nice and not overbearing. I will stay here again.

We wanted to stop one night in Mystic and didn't know a hotel, so we booked the Hampton Inn. We got what we expected from this chain - a good size clean room, good beds, and a very good breakfast. The check in was a little jumbled because when we reserved online there was no way to guarantee adjoining rooms, and it took the desk people a few tries to get us two connecting rooms. But they were friendly throughout and we ended up with connecting rooms. They have a small indoor pool, which my daughter loved, and it's only a 5 or 6 minutes by car to the town. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance if you don't want to get in the car. The only negative is that neither of our rooms had a fridge, which most Hamptons provide. Creates a problem keeping a toddler's milk supply cold. I suggest booking early in the summer - the hotel was filled, and it looked like nearly everyone else was also stopping just for the night.
