For many years, I liked the food here and got quite good serve. But last a few month, I feel quite different!:
1. Gave us wrong order a few times. now we have to give the dish name, provide details and confirm.
2. The manual said there is Heineken, but no beer Heineken! I asked a few times and even told them they need to get Heineken. But still no Heineken as Oct 4 2012.
3. The waiters were focusing on TV, very slow or no response to our requests. We had to stand up and make their attentions. This happened a lot!
4.Some time the food is very salty! We had to remind them do not put too much salt.
5. There is one young man or waitor who looks like manager (~5 feet 3 inch). The way he was talking is just like he is big boss. Very rude!

This little gem of a restaurant in a strip mall will fool you, but it has great food at reasonable prices. My daughter, after moving from the West Coast, was lamenting the lack of quality Chinese restaurants until she found this gem. Try it, especially if you like your Chinese food hot and spicy!

For years Lao Sze Chaun was an excellent destination for authentic Szechuan cuisine. A representative variety of dishes all cooked and served in the traditional manner. The service was attentive and carried out in a professional manner. However over the last several months this has changed. I do not know if the kitchen staff has changed but the customer facing employees have changed at least twice. The service is now poor, slow and carried out in a way that makes me believe the staff are new to this type of business. I used to visit this restaurant at least a few times a month and until recently continued to do so. However the last visit was so bad I decided not to return, unfortunate because the overall experience used to be so good.

One of the best regional Chinese restaurants in CT - stick with Szechuan classics like Dan Dan noodles, lamb stew, and the variety of spicy cold appetizers. They do it the right way, so the food gets progressively spicier, but the peppercorns numb your mouth so you can handle the heat. The staff is a bit inattentive, parking is horrible, and the place is jammed with Chinese people ordering the aforementioned dishes. The food is worth a special trip.
