For years Lao Sze Chaun was an excellent destination for authentic Szechuan cuisine. A representative variety of dishes all cooked and served in the traditional manner. The service was attentive and carried out in a professional manner. However over the last several months this has changed. I do not know if the kitchen staff has changed but the customer facing employees have changed at least twice. The service is now poor, slow and carried out in a way that makes me believe the staff are new to this type of business. I used to visit this restaurant at least a few times a month and until recently continued to do so. However the last visit was so bad I decided not to return, unfortunate because the overall experience used to be so good.

One of the best regional Chinese restaurants in CT - stick with Szechuan classics like Dan Dan noodles, lamb stew, and the variety of spicy cold appetizers. They do it the right way, so the food gets progressively spicier, but the peppercorns numb your mouth so you can handle the heat. The staff is a bit inattentive, parking is horrible, and the place is jammed with Chinese people ordering the aforementioned dishes. The food is worth a special trip.

You have to love real Chinese Food to go here. Their American-Chinese food is so-so. However, the authentic Chinese food are great. I love the sweet dumpling soup that was served for dissert occasionally. Spice stir-fried chicken is a must. A couple of seafood dishes are great, too. Worth trying.

Everything served was very oily and greasy. Wait staff was average. It was overpriced. The food repeated on us that night and the next day. Not sure if that was the grease or the (maybe) msg, since msg has that same effect on me. Finding parking was a task in itself.

Lao Sze Chuan is the real deal. Read about it on Chowhound and the visit didn't disappoint. I got ox-tripe and dumpings in red chile sauce to go. Both delicious and hot. So so good.
