“Great place for kids to use their imagination”
Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

I brought my kids here years ago and I'm now bringing friends kids. Always a good day. It's a good place to let a child really use their imagination. A way to let them know life without computers DOES exist. It's best for kids up to about 10 years old. After that, kids might find it a little boring. But I love watching the kids go from room to room excited about what they will do next

“best children's museum in CT”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

IMO - this is the best children's museum in CT - better than one in W Hfd, Imagination STation and Science center. Get discounts at the library.

“Really Different! Really Fun!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

This is not your typical children's museum. The entire place is a whimsical work of art that invites you in to touch, imagine and play, play play! Where else can you hop in a pink flying saucer imagine a whole new world and then explore music by teeter-tottering on a giant rain stick. Without apology, this museum caters to young children (ages 1-4) but it is so fun that parents enjoy exploring the space too. For parents of babies and pre-walkers there is an entire gallery devoted to you.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

This Children's Museum is one of our favorites in CT. Lot of room with a lot of imaginative and fun themes and activities.

In the past we preferred an AMC reciprocating membership, but this option has been water-down and lost some of it value. (It still may be worth the price for some families so you may want to inquire)

As for KIdcity, there is 3 floors inside two connected buildings. With many play rooms, a party room, and one room for younger kids. There is also a small eating area if you bring your own food. There are a few sitting areas (not full size tables) and they have a sink available to wash at.

The complete exhibit is indoors. There are no outside activities here. This is a great place to go on any day that the outside weather or temp leaves you indoors.

Some of the themed exhibits include Space, Trains, Blocks, Dinosaurs, stage/movie, quiet reading corner, farm, diner, and many others. Every room is hands on or fun play. Small Slides, pretend spaceship, colored light up peg board, puppets and dress up.

Some children's museums have larger areas with similar exhibits nearby. This place lacks the repetitiveness and reaches for a wider range, and does so quite well.

This museum is about a 45 minute drive for us, but still a go to destination when we need to plan indoor activities.

The only downfall is its popularity. As with most successful kid destinations, the days you want to be inside, so does every other family. If you dont like crowds you might want to stay away during non-school hours.
