Arrived a bit early for happy hour, 3:45, but since we were the ONLY 2 people ther, one would think they would be happy to see us. No chance of being offered happy hours specials, we decided to get a bottle of wine. Menu showed a 2011 sangivesse for $40, and a 2010 of the same exact bottle, with tasting information for the same $40... We asked for the 2010...bottle presented was the 2011, and Imbrought thatto bartender's attention.....he checked it out, came back and said we had the wrong menu...gave us a new one, where the 2011 bottle was the only one offered was now $53.... Sorry was all he had to say, qlong with he would give us a minute to,review the wine list. Took us less than 2 minutes to look at each other and say, this is pretty rude, so we left. Walked down the street, in the sunshine to Mondo's....had 3 glasses each of the house cabernet, and shared a panini and salad, bought a coke for a friend who was passing by, enjoyed 3 hours of sitting in the sunshine, and gladly paid our bill of $36.06.... Not really about the money, cause we could easily afford Esca prices, but we are certain that we made the best choice.....will never return to Esca, there are way too many choices in Middletown!
