Mom and I took Scot Haney's advice and spent the day at Middlebury Consignments. We were quite happily surprised to see the beautiful patio, water feature and gardens that surrounded the well renovated old carriage house. The staff were friendly and the cafe where they were cooking and baking all the offerings for lunch smelled so good, we immediately reserved a table for lunch outside by the falls. We walked the first floor filled with so much to see, kitchen decor and all the handmade pottery etc. The peacock and eagle all shiny were so interesting to see! Then after we walked the main floor we had lunch. Chicken salad on a croissant was delicious. With a glass of Rose and a view of the waterfall we felt so upscale and relaxed like a real vacation so close to home! Then we continued our walk around the store, seeing jewelry, furniture, decor so much we couldn't catch it all in. Loved looking at the Grandfather clocks. The staff person at the register named Fay was so nice and remembered my name when I came to check out and buy a lovely scarf and cupcake lip balm for my great niece. The only fault we had was we wanted to try a champagne truffle from the case of luscious looking sweets and candy, but the attendant was no where to be found and we sat waiting for 10 minutes until it was obvious it was not meant to be. We went back to the outdoor cafe and had a good coffee and a scrumptious Limoncello Tea Cake with fresh berries. Then we walked the lawn and saw the roses, butterfly bushes with butterflies and statues. We felt sad that the day went so quick but we found a new favorite place to visit! Will definitely be back!
