“Beautiful casino hotel with access to all.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

For the July 4th holiday weekend, we stayed at Foxwood's Great Cedar Hotel. This is a hotel tower that is conveniently located in the heart of Foxwood's with access to everything. The elevator will bring you to the casino gaming floor and it is a short walk to all of its prime dining options, Bingo hall, comedy club, etc. Regardless of why you're at Foxwood's, this is a perfect option.

The rooms have recently been updated and are super clean and comfortable. The room size is perfect, the bed quality is excellent and the bathroom is good. We ordered room service twice (we were being lazy) and the food quality was excellent and service was on time.

If you're driving to Foxwood's, take advantage of the free valet service. Luggage service for check in and check out was speedy.

If you've never been to the casino, Foxwood's has multiple casinos with the latest slots and plenty of the standard table games. They are generous on comps, so be sure to use your player's card. You may apply your comp's to room charges, restaurants, shopping, etc. You also have options for smoking and non-smoking gaming areas. Drink service is realitively fast and attentive depending on how busy the casino is.

Overall, Foxwood's is a great place for those that are seeking nice hotel amenities, shopping, gambling, dining, and entertainment. This is a highly recommended property!

Room Tip: Ask for something close to an elevator - the hallways can be very long and may be difficult for thos...

We were two couples who spent this past weekend at the Great Cedar. Rooms are lovely and quite clean. Not as nice as MGM Grand which is our favorite hotel at Foxwoods. Bathroom is pre-fab tub type and it takes an engineering degree to figure out how to turn shower on. (need to pull out really, really hard-doesn't seem natural).

Everyone on the premises were quite friendly. Had lunch at Junior's, dinners at Alta Strada and Al Dente, and the breakfast buffets at Veranda Café (reviewed separately). They were all quite good.

We all played the slots and we all lost (probability theory dictates here). But, we had a great time. Very relaxing and lots of fun. Would definitely return.

I recently stayed here through Foxwoods, (the room was free, no complaints) but otherwise the prices are on the lower end comparatively. The first night we got there late, so the four of us had to sleep in one bed. This was not a problem, 3 people fit comfortably on the bed, and they gave us a free cot for the inconvenience. The next night we got a double bed room, which was equally as nice. The beds are comfy and the room in total was nice. You could not get any closer to casinos and restaurants, which was nice. The only thing I noticed was that the showerheads were different from room to room. Not a big deal. Overall it was not a bad stay at all, and I would reccomend it over the more expensive hotels.

We stayed at Great Cedar recently as part of a group who had an event nearby. The rooms were fine - 2 queen beds, dresser, TV, fridge, bathroom...the usual. I will give a shoutout to the really comfortable mattresses - much better than average. The room was clean, the lights were good, there were enough plugs in the right places, the bathroom was fine (though the tub/shower was a fiberglass insert, not tiled). Our room had a triangular window seat that was unusual but gave good seating when a couple of friends stopped by briefly. The rooms were not deluxe in any way, though - a new Staybridge or Courtyard has rooms as nice for probably 30% less. There was a ton of noise in the hallways from drunk guests returning at 3, 4, and 5 in the morning. The smell of cigarette smoke was pervasive - halls, elevators, lobby...you couldn't get away from it. I had a very pleasant desk agent at check-in and she was able to give me an additional hour to check out when I needed it, but others in our group had a shockingly difficult, rude ordeal to get a late checkout (12 PM instead of 11 AM), and were only allowed to have a late checkout for one of their three reserved rooms. I probably wouldn't go back - we weren't there for the casino but for the accomodations, and the food in the restaurants we tried was average but overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from elevators and ice machine. Room 711 had a window seat but not a great view...

If this is remodeled, then the Indians aren't doing well these days. Bathroom small and tiles in floor cracked. Tub is a cheap fiberglass insert on the cheap side like you see on tv. Speaking of tv's, ours couldn't even keep a picture clear picture on all channels. It is 2013, get your cable or sat up to date.

All in all stay at MGM or go to Mohegan Sun if you want nice hotels!

I stayed at the Great Cedar Hotel last weekend at Foxwoods. I've stayed at several of the other properties there and I think Great Cedar is the best. It far exceeded my expectations. The lobby and the hotel rooms did not smell smokey at all. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. I did not get the opportunity to take advantage of it, but the bathtub was deep enough for a nice soak.

It is my understanding that this was recently renovated and it shows. It's in a convenient part of the property, centrally located. Lots of shops and restaurants very close by.

Thought my stay here was great! Would definitely come back and visit again. Great rooms and great bathrooms all in the middle of all the action of the casino. Plenty of restaurants, clubs and activities in the resort. Would definitely stay here again.
