Pondok Ikan Bakar Kalimantan
Ranked #3 of 225 Restaurants in Depok
Cuisines: Indonesian
Restaurant details
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

Very crowded on Saturday and Sunday lunch hour, so be prepared to be waited to sit and have your order presented on your table, especially the Ikan Patin bakar bamboo. Because, its made fresh (literally the fish is alive and taken from the pond as you order). And, off course, this restaurant is famous because of this Ikan Patin Bakar bamboo, with unique taste (and a little bit spicy), it will satisfy your taste buds.
For sides, should you bring children I would recommend Ayam Potong Goreng ala Kalimantan. My son love it. And our family favorites (besides of the Patin Bakar bamboo off course) is the Ikan Asia Pontianak or Ikan Teri Balado Petai. It’s goes well with the Ikan Patin Bakar bamboo and rice.

I know this resto ever since 90’s where it was so tiny resto.
The good thing of this resto is successfully maintain its recipe till now.
It looks red but it is not spicy ! (For those of you who’s scare of chili).
This Patin (family to catfish) has different size/weight. Normally for 2 person, you would need 600grams. Also avail in 2kg per fish. With very secret recipe, the fish bake it inside the black bambu (as it is drier as to compare with green one) and with coconut coal for fire.
For those of you who don’t eat fish, there are plenty of option such Ayam Goreng etc

I was lucky enough to go here for a business lunch. The fish cooked in the bambu tube is the speciality and its fantastic moist fish but full of flavour and not too spicy.

The orange drink with coconut is also great.

The battered prawns and chicken also good and the green veg

Great place to get traditional Indonesian food and spicy

Highly recommended
