Went for lunch with a group from work, pretty much everyone went for the lunch buffet. The choices were average to perhaps a little light for a buffet. My first complaint is that the dishes are cold, so as soon as you place your food on the plate the cold dish works to remove the heat from your food - not good. The chicken pasanda (curry chicken with spiced yogurt and a touch of cream) was one of my favorites over a nice bed of basmati rice. The naan (bread) was fresh and warm. The onion bhajia (sliced onions and spices rolled in chick peas, flour and deep fried) was ok as well.

So stoked to finally have some great indian food in mansfield center. Usually we hit the wings/indian place on Uconn, but this place is much closer to where we stay while in town. I can understand a negative review for poor service, but these claims of "Culinary Titanic" are just totally unjustified. I found our food to be flavorful & correctly spiced. We paid $48.00 for 3 takeout dishes with 2 onion Culcha & had leftovers for days!

This restaurant was jammed in days just after it opened showing strong local interest in Indian cuisine. Unfortunately the food and service are below mediocre. Now, a few months later, the place is often empty as people vote with their feet. They are in need of higher quality food, a far better chef and much better management. They could learn by studying the Corormandel restaurants in southern CT or the Utsav in Rocky Hill.

We are thrilled to have a sit-down Indian restaurant in our area! The owner also runs a small take-out restaurant with excellent Northern Indian (Punjabi) cuisine. Maharaja has the same type of food but with a much more extensive menu and in a setting more conducive to a date or evening out. I first tried the lunch buffet with a friend--on day two after they opened. We both found the variety and quality to be excellent. The buffet food was not spicy but there were vegetarian options, chicken dishes, and the characteristic creamy sauces that are a hallmark of Punjabi cuisine. I later went for dinner. My dining companion asked for something that wasn't on the menu--Madras Paneer. They kindly accommodated his request and he thoroughly enjoyed the dish, made spicy, the way he likes it. I had a Masala dish which was also excellent. We also had a side of onion kulcha and they served us crisp papadum when we arrived. The decor was warm, the service good, and the menu varied. We liked it so much that we will return next weekend with four friends. They will, I'm sure, get even better with time. We intend to be regular customers.

Ref: Mangorick comments - Very similar experience except we did take-out. Left half of our order out of the bag, requiring our return for the remainder. No apology was offered. They still failed to include rice and dipping sauce with our order for $72 for three entrees and several sides. We were not going to return for a third time; in fact, we will not return EVER. To classify any of our selections as betters than mediocre would be a compliment. Don't waste your money !!
