Order delivery food today, and was told 40 mins, but 1 hour and 15 mins later food arrived, COLD, and my sandwich was not what I ordered. I called and the owner/order taker actually hung up on me. I will NEVER use this place again. I always used them and never a problem but now being treated so rudely, never again.

“Quality, reasonably priced food in a high-end area”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

In the land of half million dollar houses, chic boutiques and art cinemas, Petrillo's offers inlanders a great place to go for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Located in a small shopping plaza, this unassuming place was our choice on a Tuesday evening in April for dinner part of "dinner and a movie."

Between the regular menu and the specials, there is something for everybody. I was particularly impressed by the New England Clam Chowder. The menu alerts diners that it is a "tad spicy." I really didn't detect spices, at least not in the "hot" sense. But that didn't matter. The soup was a hearty flavorful bowl of briny goodness, each spoonful brimming with clams. This was a real value at $4.95 and a serious competitor with chowders at more expensive places along the Connecticut shoreline. By the way, skip the cellphaned oyster crackers and down this chowder with Petrillo's incredibly delicious bread.

Stuffed filet of sole, doused with a tangy lemon butter sauce was not two but three filets wrapped around a fresh tasting seafood stuffing.

There were no complaints from my dining companion either who enjoyed a crock of French onion soup and a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs.

The dining room was a bit small, but comfortable with a pub theme dominating the decor. Service was great: knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

If all that weren't enough, Petrillo's offers a 15% off coupon on their website. So, dinner for two, 2 soups, 2 entrées, soft drinks, tax and tip (after the discount) came to $48. No doubt, I'll be back.

By the way, the address listed here on tripadvisor is incorrect, Visit Petrillo's at 51 Boston Post Road, Madison.

“A place where everybody knows your name”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

We've been coming to this place for years, since it was LL Lowrie's and even before when it was Finsters. The Petrillos have really stepped things up here since moving to this location from the other side of town, and it's not just pizza anymore (although they do a tasty pie).

The menu is extensive, from apps to sandwiches, chicken, beef and veal dinners, as well as a lengthy specials list each night. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere comfortable, the prices reasonable and the service is great.

The place is split into a bar with several high-top tables on one side and the dining room, with about 10 tables, on the other. We were there Saturday night about 7 and got the last table.

I had braised pork in marinara sauce over pasta and the extremely accommodating kitchen did up chicken francaise special for my wife, even though it was not on the menu. Can't ask for more.

The place is located in a non-descript strip mall on Route 1 near the Guilford line and you can easily drive right past it, but the Petrillos and staff work very hard to make sure once you discover them you have a great experience. If you give this place a try, you'll likely be back.
