Went for their advertised $9.95 lunch special on a Friday, not on the menu, had to ask our waiter who told us only one special per day and it was a fried cod sandwich, we ordered Bloody Mary's, very bland.
Poor acoustics, very loud, bar is located at the side away from the view!
My chopped salad was also bland, a few cherry tomato halves, cucumbers around the edge, 2 slices of avocado on top of colorless lettuce, no signs of bacon, didn't taste bad but presentation was lacking.
My husband had no problem with his burger, cooked as ordered, good fries. Will return at a later date when they work the 'kinks" out.
Lovely view! Very nice waiter, an Alec Baldwin look alike!

“Magnificent Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

The Wharf Restaurant at the new Madison Beach Hotel is without question, the best dining experience in the shoreline area...the food is simply excellent, the service is top notch and the views from the direct waterfront setting are fantastic.

One of our return visits was on an early afternoon for their Sunday Brunch. In a word, it was spectacular. It offered everything from a raw bar (freshly shucked clams and oysters, shrimp., etc.), to carving and omelette stations, an extensive array of prepared dishes, to an incredible selection of desserts and pastries.

“The Wharf Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

This restaurant is located in a hotel overlooking the Long Island sound. It was a cold and windy evening so we could not enjoy the scenic view longer. The restaurant has a very intimate atmosphere. It has a very large bar in the entry which was very busy. The dining room was empy as it was off season for the resort town. We started our dinner with calamari which was good. I ordered seafood which was very good with a wonderful spinach risotto. My colleagues ordered steak, soup and salad and they were very happy with their meals. The wait staff was very attentive and explained the menu very well. We had wine withour dinner which was the house wine and it was delicious. I went back the next day to enjoy the sunset from this location and there were manyl ocals parked doing the same thing. Would love to return during the summer where you would see alot more activity.

“Could be so much better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

Went for lunch with a friend. Location is great. The decor is tired. This could be so much nicer. Menu selections just average. The lobster roll sub par- if you want a really good one, go to Lenny & Joe's Fishtail. I've had drinks here before- nice spot a sunset.

“delicious, divine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

I mentioned the wonderful restaurant briefly when reviewing the marvelous hotel experience we had but I need to rave a little about the great service and incredible food we had. Dinner, overlooking the sound, was so tasty and unique. We were particularly impressed that they would cork a bottle of unfinished wine and seal it in a leak proof clear bag for later. We never saw such a thing but suggestions flowed from their servers even for places in Saybrook where we were heading the next day. We were handed an unsolicited list of a few good places we might like for lunch. In fact the great breakfast left us not wanting lunch at all.. It was all just lovely there. It was also not too crowded on a Wed. night. Hope to get back there soon.
