“By Comparison...”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

We are always up for wine tasting, but on this trip we were only able to squeeze in two in this area. We had previously visited another winery very close by which has a beautiful property overlooking the lake. It was very quiet and the staff tremendously friendly. When we got to H-B Vineyard, my husband groaned when we got inside. There were many people already there, it was really noisy (including the staff), and we had to wait quite awhile until one of the girls handling the tastings had time to stop over our way. There were numerous people using Groupon coupons that weren't together, but apparently were there for a timed visit. The tasting room itself is not very appealing with a gazillion things for sale which were not very nicely displayed. That said, however, the wines were GREAT! Once the folks left for their visit (very short indeed) they returned briefly before heading on. It then was much quieter and the staff a bit friendlier. We bought several bottles to use as thank you gifts as we continued our driving trip through New England and to enjoy in the evenings at the b&bs where we would be staying. So you need to decide why you are visiting H-B. If it is for the ambience of a beautiful tasting room and vineyard, you will probably be disappointed. However, if you are there for some great wines, you will be a happy camper indeed.

“A day with friends”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

I visited Haight-Brown Vineyard yesterday, May 11th, with my husband and a group of our friends. We expected it to be busy and there was a waiting list so as we waited to be seated we looked around the gift shop and heard the male bartender who worked that day being loud and obnoxious making crude and rude jokes and using profanity. I expected much more class from such a beautiful place. We were seated in a timely manner in the room off to the side where we recieved EXCELLENT service considering the amount of people in the room and only having one bartender. We ordered a cheese platter and was very impressed. The facility was gorgeous and the staff was great for the most part, excluding that one gentleman.

“On the CT Wine Trail”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Very busy and active winery. I suggest arriving early if you would like to enjoy your tasting and not feel rushed.

For the last 3 years, we have been doing the CT Winey Trail, so while stopping at the others within the area it is worth a stop, if only to get your Passport book stamped. There is no charge unless you do the wine tasting - then there is a fee which includes a souvenir wine glass

Nice outside porch with chairs and tables and also there are picnic tables out in the vineyard, so you can pack a picnic basket with all your favorites, purcahse a bottle (or 2) of wine and sit outside and enjoy.

“Best wines in CT!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

The wine tasting experience here is fabulous. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. It is first come, first served; we showed up on a busy Saturday with a group of 7 and were offered a glass of wine (our choice) while we waited approx 20 minutes for our tasting. (They take your name as you arrive). We had the basic tasting and added on a delicious cheese platter. The tour is short and sweet, and you're welcome to bring your glass of wine with you. Of the 9 wines they allow you to taste...the Picnic Red is a definite favorite!

“Nice stop on a day trip”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We have been here on several occasions. During the summer there is always an activity going on on the property. I enjoyed the tours. The winemaker came from out west and is a pleasure to talk to. We also enjoyed a wine and cheese class that they hosted.
