We had read reviews of the boardwalk and came here for that. However, it was not clear from the map at the information kiosk how to get there, and we had to go to the gift shop to ask--where we learned we could purchase a map for $3. There was no signage to it.
Eventually we got there, and had a very fine 1-2 mile walk through the habitat. Loved it, now that we know where it is!!

Great little museum, educational and fun special events throughout the year, and plenty of new places to discover. I have been hiking in White Memorial for 14 years and still can find a hike or a bit of trail that I've never explored. Great snowshoeing in the winter and kayak trips down the Bantam River portage off Alain White road.

There are acres of unspoiled forest and field with brooks and lakes to explore. Wild life abounds and this is a great day trip when in ct. Besides the price is great - it's FREE!

There are many trails and many to take a moderate run if you want to. Going slow with the family or signifcant other is the way to go. There are picnic tables but the rest room faciities are primative. Check out the injured hawks and other native animals cared for at this privately funded area.

White Memorial is a jewel in CT country!

White Memorial is our towns crown jewel!! there are miles of hiking trails, kayak access, fishing spots and a wonderful boardwalk around a huge pond.it is the scene of many town road race events and has a very popular summer cross country series. My grandchildren never tire of nature walks and love the wonderful museum.A meeting room in the lower level hosts many community art events and talks by area experts on a variety of topics. My husband and I walk there as often as we can and there is always something new that catches our attention
